Verizon goes after Sprint over "most dependable" claim

Sprint's most dependable 3G claim

We’ve been trying to stay out of the public and increasingly bitter kerfuffle between Verizon and AT&T and now Apple over maps and coverage and whatnot, but now Big Red has just gone and pulled us in by now going after PreCentral’s current US network of choice (or no choice, if you choose to look at it as such): Sprint.

If you think back to those first wacky Now Network commercials, Sprint was touting their status as “America’s most dependable 3G network.” Their claim is supported by tests done by PC World in July 2009. The testing measured signal strength in 13 US cities; Sprint topped AT&T in every test and Verizon 90% of the time, as well as providing comparable or better wireless speeds.

Verizon takes issue with that claim. A recent study by Nielsen Co. produced results that showed Verizon had fewer dropped or blocked calls than Sprint. As you can see here, we’re looking at two different metrics (signal strength vs. dropped calls, though they are somewhat related). Verizon still took their more recent survey to The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureau; the council agreed with Verizon’s case [pdf] and asked that Sprint cease airing the “most dependable” claim.

Sprint, understandably, does not want to comply with the request. As much as some of us love Sprint, to potential customers the only other thing they really could lord over AT&T and Verizon’s heads was that Sprint cost less for the same plans, and now they seem to have been beaten by T-Mobile on that front. Not wanting to give up their new advertising pitch just six months after adopting it, Sprint says that they plan to appeal to the National Advertising Review Board.

Verizon is so sad, they have to act like there network is better then everyone else's because there phones sure aren't. Thats exactly why I'll stick with Sprint and never switch to Verizon, that and the lower prices :)

there != their

then = than

you just look like an idiot when you pick apart a post.

it is a comment, the equivalent of a text message.

grow up.

I beg to differ. You look like an idiot when you don't know the difference between there and their. It's grade school grammar, and if you don't know the difference, the whole post loses credibility.

If Tom Brokaw was on Twitter, do you think he'd tweet "OMG!! Barak Osama jus baled out wall streat!!"? No. He would lose credibility. The type of medium used is irrelevant.

even worse than the got dam spelling is the fscking hijack

i even hate posting this, but it IS THE undisputable thing that does matter on the internet.

    Don't be a TROLL!

I completely 100% agree with you. Verizon's network is about the crappiest network I have ever used. They can't back anything up because they have stupid phones that aren't worth their $200 + dollar plans.

I hate that company. I would never use them or work for them. They are only advertising and marketing geniuses. They have people hooked, even sites like engadget and cnet, that Verizon is the best network. They might have the largest network, ever since they bought Alltel and Qwest, but in no way is it the fastest, or the most reliable, and its definitely WAY below sprint on call quality.

Verizon has a large area of coverage. From my tests, I have found that ATT's HSDPA 3G network is the fastest, not reliable, but fast especially in upload speeds. Sprint comes next in speed, in addition, they are a very reliable network and have great prices and awesome call quality. Verizon comes last in EVERYTHING except area of native coverage. I don't usually count T-Mobile in my comparisons, everyone loves them.... but they are just not up top par in competition.

I say to hell with verizon. They don't deserve anyone's money. They were too cocky to accept the iPhone, too Cocky to accept third party app stores until now, too cocky to accept other operating systems until recently, and are still too cocky to lower their outrageous prices for no reason. ATT has those kinds of prices, but they have to take care of a global network. Verizon? Nah. Just a crappy CDMA, US only, slow, unreliable, and overpriced network. NOW they want to be proud to be the first wireless company to charge people a $350 cancellation fee with smartphones. I don't believe it. Im done ranting, although i could go on for hours.

GO SPRINT!!!!!!!!!!!

Where I am (Southwestern part of AZ), Verizon has always had the best signal. My Pre will lose connection 3 or 4 times driving down one of the main roads in the city. 3G is unheard of here, as far as Sprint goes (Verizon does provide it).

I had Verizon before, and liked the connection (other things I didn't like), but switched to Sprint for the SERO plan. The lack of 3G kills the benefit (I see) of the Pre over many other phones - internet connection/email. It's like the difference between phone connection and cable connection to the internet on a home computer. The cost advantage just doesn't make it worth it.

Oh well, if Sprint doesn't improve here, I guess I'm back with Verizon after this contract expires. I'd rather pay the extra for the 3G network.

Yeah, but I think your pre losing signal is less related to the sprint's network and more related to the radio in the Pre. Since joining Sprint, I've had 13 different sprint phones in my house. And by far, the Pre has the worst signal retention of all of them, even worse than the Pixi.

IMHO judging the quality of Sprint's network by the Pre is going to be misleading.

I completely agree with you re: 3G. If you're stuck paying the same price for the plan, you'd better have 3G. If they'd give you a discount for lack of 3G then that'd be another story.

why are u gonna pay extra? smart guy. just download this patch: "roam only in device menu", it works for me, it ll work for u

Oh wise sage. A thousand apologies for not checking with you first. Oh, wait! I tried using that before I posted, and tried again after your tactful response, and still the same results - it constantly remains in a "searching" state.
So, I realize I may not be the brightest bulb in the house, but I do know what I'm talking about (well, at least some of the time).

I appreciate your response, especially the "smart guy" comment, and next time, I'll be sure to check with you before I post an opinion or comment. Uh huh, sure I will.

Who cares if Verizon's network has fewer dropped or blocked calls? That's what the Roam Only patch is for. DUH! ;)

oh yeah! that patch rocks perfectly to me

Anyone know if the roam only patch lets you use verizon 3G or is it only 1xRTT?

Verizon is just trying to make sure that they have something they can say after the ATT stuff blows up. Usually, I can't find anything bad to say about Verizon. Now, however.... Verizon is poopy. There, I said it.

Big Red is also expensive as #%&*

Did you mean "expensive as poopy?"

No, i meant expensive as #%&* lol. Expensive as poopy are what AT&T iPhone plans are. They're a lil more costly than the Simply Everything Plans but still affordable. Verizon does that better and rapes u with the prices

LOL! i'm laughing my ass of with your comments! poopie! xD :p

Well as for me. I', starting to hate verizon... I mean... why don't they just do their work and stop meddling their noses in other companies affairs. Man... That's why im scared of being a business guy cause i could turn out to be an asshole. Sorry for the words folks. Verizon is doing this because in the long run they want all other companies to fall and them be the only available wireless company. And that is monopoly...

For the major metro areas, Sprint really is amazing. Their plans are very good, their customer service got a lot better. Their phone selection is improving.

I always feel weird as a Sprint user, but working for a company that deals with VzW. But I will tell you that Verizon has basically no claim here. They are way over their heads and it just smells of desperation. This campaign has been running for a long time.

Besides, this association that sided with VzW has no teeth. It's just a recommendation and is pretty darn useless.

i agree. i have had sprint for 9 years while living in 4 cities. i have never had any issues while in those cities. many friends relate less fortunate tales with their verizon and att phones in those same areas.

what kills me though, is when i visit my family just 3 miles outside a state capital's downtown and i can't get a signal. granted i am talking sm'albany, ny here .. but still.

alas, i don't live there. i only visit. my signal strength and dependebility here in san francisco are both outstanding. my iphone friends can't say that.

go sprint!

ah, smallbany...I work in a 150mi radius of albany, NY for 5 years, moved here by choice (grew upp in metro NY) since I spend most of my weekends up in the mountains anyway. Suffice to say my coverage is as good as with verizon at all but a few areas. And I had verizon for 10 years.

not sure where a few miles out of downtown you lack a signal but are you sure you have a working phone and the correct settings and prls .

also, while verizon was awful on the northway to montreal, sprint gets data starting at exit 29 and keeps it to albany (and beyond).

love sprint, and love my tiny bill.

This is a bunch of bull. Sprint has the fastest 3G network, period. "3G" is the speed isnt it? But Verizon has slightly larger network coverage. I cant even remember the last time i've had a dropped call on my Pre or my previous phones (Touch pro 2, Touch)

3G is short for 3rd generation. But is real catchy and rolls of the tongue a lot easier when making advertisements.

Like we have the largest 3rd generation network! sound pretty corny eh? But if we throw 3G in there

We have the largest 3G network! see ;)

Gotcha!

FYI. Sprint plans are still cheaper. T-Mobile's everything plan for 1 person is priced the same, but for 2 on a family plan, with unlimited data, text, and all w/ 1500 min is $30 more on T-Mobile. Long live Sprint!!!

"America's most dependable 3G network"

What's that have to do with dropped calls? On a CDMA network, all calls are done over 1xRTT or 2G (for lack of a better term). Verizon has no case here.

Sprint isn't making any claims about call dependability, though I agree with @Dre007: I can't tell you the last time I had a dropped call on any network.

You are absolutely correct. Sprint is referring to 3G which is data only. So VZW may have fewer dropped calls but that has nothing to do with 3G. If they want to incorporate 2G and 3G then they would have to pull their ads blasting At&ts 3G network or at least add At&ts Edge coverage when they compare networks. I think I'm really close to hating VZW more than Apple and I did not think that was possible.

That's ironic! Because in the fight that they're in with AT&T, they keep talking about 3G coverage, not just general coverage. And AT&T is suing them as being misleading although all the ads clearly state 3G.

Now, they're making AT&T's argument against sprint, that despite the fact that the ad prominently displays 3G, it doesn't matter. The lawyers from AT&T should bring this up in their case. Is VZW's stance that displaying "3G" in the ad matters or doesn't?

Lol! Exactly... I like AT&T's newest anti-"There's a map for that" ads with the postcards saying how great their "call coverage" is even though VZW's ads are clearly talking about 3G coverage. It's all in how you twist the language.

They all had to send in postcards because nobody could get a decent 3G signal.

Lol. Good one.

That's the exact point I was about to make. Dropped/Blocked calls mean nothing when referring to a Dependable 3G Network. If Verizon said they could pull your e-mails better/faster or more dependable, then perhaps they would have an argument.

Verizon should lose this one.

Yes, exactly. I think that Sprint's appeal will center around this fact. I'm going to with ignorance of the issue as the reason that they sided with VZW on its initial complaint. Also, like someone else said this council or whatever really has no way of enforcing this "suggestion" that Sprint not air the commercial.

I have had one dropped call in a year and a half, and it was my friend's stupid AT&T service's fault.

no one carrier is best for everything. most carriers aren't best for anything.

do your research. go with the carrier that has the best service, best price, best phones, best reliability for your area and for your needs.

know that when you travel outside your home zone, it may all change.

my wife recently switched to verizon and everything about them has been garbage so far. From the customer service to the network dependability. She has an omnia and is constantly in 1x and we live in the middle of the 4th largest are in the whole country. They tried to bs her because she doesn't know much and tell her its supposed to be in 1x except if you are on the internet. I had to go in there and tell them they were crazy I had three wm phones until the pre and everyone of em were in ev unless it was a bad signal in call or receiving a text. All around we are very displeased with them so far I am almost full bars everywhere while my wife struggles with 1 or 2 then goes straight to 1x as soon as she jumps on the net and is much much slower than sprint, probably because the reception is crummy, on the verizon network.

Wow, that sucks! You should get your wife a Pixi for Christmas ;)

oh believe me I thought about it but she gets her nails done every month and the capacitive touch screen is a no go for her

My wife gets one bar on her verizon in NYC while I have 3 bars on my sprint. Even then her call quality is better than mine. Bhoo Bhoo. If I was using internet, Sprint is as fast.

Soooo, this is my personal outlook on the situation. I previously had verizon for 6 years. However I did not have internet so I don't know how their 3 g network is. But what I can tell you is tht I was paying 95$ a month for 400 somthn min. Unlim text and no data.

I recently switched to sprint about 6 months ago. However I was a little skeptical about its network but I can now honestly say sprint blows my mind. I live here in long island and I have great coverage. And the 3g network is just amazing. Webpages load so quickly its great.
oh and I pay 50 $ a month. Which makes it all the better. I am very happy with sprint.

I was with Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T over my cell phone life. "back in the day" when I had Verizon, i thought they had pretty good coverage and was their customer before data networks were even heard of. What flipped my lid with them was how they tried to add so many extra charges and fees to my bill and then justify them. So, I've never gone back. My next carrier was AT&T when it was Cingular and my number one reason for dropping them was price gouging. I was simply spending too much money trying to talk on my phone. The second reason they got dropped is i was just LIVID with their coverage and mind you I had a Moto Razr which was one of the best pure phones i have ever had. But, even with my Razr, i would bet i could never talk on my phone more than 15 minutes regardless of where i was without a dropped call. That pissed me off to no end! Then, in comes Sprint. Customer service has improved to top notch, IMO, and I am always surprised when I get a dropped call on my Pre even with it's lowly signal strength. I have a weak signal in my home and have used the the Treo 650 and the 755P, which nearly never dropped calls. I could count the number of times I've dropped calls on both of those phones over a 2 year period on one hand while on the Sprint network. When it comes to speed and phone connectivity, Sprint is allll the way in the black. I would pay $30.00/month more for their service just because it is so stellar! Their is nothing false about their advertising and in these times, cell phone coverage and dependability gets very important when so many cell phones are so good! The cell phones can highlight weaknesses in the carriers, so the carriers need to be really good, and I would never leave Sprint for another carrier. I don't care if they get the Super Iphone that will give you virtual sex with Jessica Beal....Well, hold on Jessica is pretty damn HOT! Ok, i'd buy the Super Iphone for one day, use it for Jessica, then return it. LOL! AT&T will probably drop the damn call right when I'm ready to **@*...LOL!

I hear you on that

I switched away from Verizon (and made a blood oath never to go back) for exactly the same reason. SO GLAD I went to Sprint (though I recently had a brief stint with AT&T, their network sucked monkey balls, so I payed the ETF when the Pre came out and am never looking back).

Simple comment on Verizon VS Sprint. If I go down I83 with a Sprint phone no problem I got signal. I do the same thing with a Verizon phone? The Verizon phone has NO SIGNAL!!!

Nuff said...

NEXT!!!

I only could say they should drop it and go with a new slogan just to laugh at Verizon, T-mobile, and ATNT. Here's my slogan. "SPRINT....THE BEST PHONES, 3G AND SERVICE COMBINED. INTRODUCING, THE SIMPLY KICKING EVERYONE ELSES ASS PLAN."

Nofiguru
www.myspace.com/myprespace

hahahaha, had to laugh at myself on that one. Its genius and I'm weird. Sorry, just built that way

no apology necessary! I liked your comment, why don't you check mine...LOL!

Seriously, don't worry. You have no idea how many people would switch carriers to have a plan called the "Simply kicks everyone elses asses" plan. :-]

Amen to that, bro. Amen to that.

My wife switched to Sprint from Verizon back in June. I bought her the Palm Pre the day it came out. I'm still stuck with verizon until June of 2010. But every month we pay our bills I get so upset at the fact that my wife's phone bill is $62 after taxes/fees, and she has pretty much unlimited everything (text, data, navigation,TV,Any Mobile Anytime) and I pay $77 after taxes/fees, for 900 mins, and 500 text. That's it. I get no data. I get no VZ navigator. I get no TV. My texts are limited.

It's sad what Verizon is trying to do to sprint. I'm going to have to side with sprint on this one. I'm a big fan of underdogs. Go Palm! And Go Sprint!

"Can you hear me now? Good, because I can't get a signal good enough to send you an email."

What? are you sure? Might wanna switch to sprint so you can. Oh you worried about other areas? NP you can still use the big reds network so no worries. Oh and guess what you actually pay less!

My company switched from Sprint/Nextel to verizon for a grand total of 28 days then switched back. As a truck driver, I have sprint personally but when my company went to verizon, I had both phones with me at all times on my route and all I can say is that verizon sucked a$$!

Verizon has no claim here because "dependable" is such a vague word and thier suit has no merit. So screw off verizon and kiss my a$$ after I take a dump! Long live sprint! I've been a customer of sprint for 9 years and I approve this message!

Dieter, I think your plea for there not to be a Sprint vs. verizon battle when the Pre comes to verizon isn't looking very good.

SPRINT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys rock. I work for Sprint and Love my PRE!!!! When I talk to customers I say yes, Verizon does have a little bigger network, but we can work on their towers. But, we do kick their butts in Data, and you cannot beat our prices. Now all I have to do is show them this!!!!

No doubt that Verizon prolly has better coverages overall but its TOOO ungodly expensive to get that. Sprint does just well for me in my areas and the best bang for the buck!

I think AT&T and Verizon should worry about their own business and finding ways to improve themselves, thereby one-upping the others instead of going after their competitors advertising. Like I tell my kids - worry about yourself....

Sprint should sue Verizon for being stupid.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHa!!!!!!! Good one! Made my day. Thats absolutely true!

Why should it just be a joke? Maybe we can get congress to pass a law where sprint is the only legal service. There's nothing in the bill of rights saying, "Right to choice of cell service."

I'm going to Sprint today to get their wireless laptop stick and service. It is clear they have better pricing and coverage compared to everyone else.

verizon webmail

Full disclosure, I work for Sprint, but Verizon's network is in no way the most dependable. First off, we have to know how the study was conducted; typically Nielsen Co has random consumers test out phones (usually like a few thousand or so) and I'm guessing the software in the phones records dropped calls. Again, I don't know how the study was conducted, but usually data gathered from Nielsen Co is from a small sample and I doubt it is a rigorous as say PC World. Even if the study from Nielsen Co is reliable, that's just one test! Sprint has had tests conducted from many companies and Sprint has always been on top in terms of speeds and reliability. Sprint's 3G network has been around the longest and that's why it is the most dependable.

Sprint is usually the first to get new technology implemented and that's why they have the best network and have 4g before everyone else. I doubt this is going to make any headway with this study.

It almost seems that sprint is more humble when it comes to "duking" it out with their competitors. As soon as verizon actually has something, even if it wasn't even a reliable test, they pretty much throw it in the face of their competitors. When Sprint received the top place in many tests conducted from many different companies, they didn't throw it in the face of everyone and ask their competitors to take down their slogans.

It is also very hard to determine who has the "biggest network" by the way. The term itself is very ambiguous and there are no industry standards to determine the "size" of the network accurately. Some determine it by how many acres of land the network covers and others determine by how many people receive the coverage.

Verizon. The truth hurts! I think this is good news though, They have like 30 million more customers & this will just make them look petty after the whole AT&T situation. If I were Sprint I would just sit back and fight this behind the scenes. I think the average customer will just look down on Verizon for this one. If they play their cards correct & do not fight back with a stupid add like AT&T did they will win this battle.
I travel once or twice a year in the western U.S. with my outlaws which all have Verizon. We typically travel to ski destinations were coverage is not always the best with most providers. I have yet to find an area I have not had coverage while they often need to borrow by phone. I know it is fact that Verizon has a larger coverage area but with Sprints free roaming I think it is exaggerated a ton. I am constantly joking with my outlaws "Can you hear me know" They hate it. Good luck Sprint & thanks for the cheaper plans & great phones. I think Dan Hesse has done a good job & will eventually get this thing turned around.

So Verizon gets 3 new phones that actually look like something and now they want to act like their 'ish don't stink.... They do have a good network but up until now their phone pretty much sucked. Calm it down Verizon!

Sprint Customer for 11 years now! They have greatly improved in their customer care and in their coverage areas. They have always been competitively priced better than the other carriers. However, they still have some work to do with improving signal strength in the Los Angeles Area. They have towers going up ever 3-6 months to work on this.
I love paying $60 for everything plan while my I-Phone tooting room mate pays $120 for his service plan!

I only hope that Sprint will work with Palm to continue to provide better service and quality to their customers. =-)

I would say the reaction to this should be pretty simple.

Verizon has already argued -- in court against AT&T -- that voice is not 3G.

Now, they're arguing with the BBB that voice *is* 3G.

Sprint should simply submit a friend-of-the-court brief consisting of Verizon's complaint to the BBB in the AT&T civil case -- essentially siding with AT&T. If voice coverage is part of 3G, then Verizon should lose its lawsuit with AT&T and should be forced to stop advertising a superior 3G network.

If voice is NOT part of 3G, as Verizon *itself* is arguing in court, then the Nielson test is meaningless because it measures activities that aren't relevant to 3G. In that situation, only 3G-data-relevant tests should apply, and in that comparison, it will not be Sprint who comes out waving the white flag.

In short, Verizon wants it both ways -- a strictly literal definition of 3G in AT&T's case, and a super-liberal definition that includes 2G 1xRTT voice calls in Sprint's case.

Kudos to Sprint for focusing on features, reliability, pricing, options and customer service rather than Verizon's efforts to constantly change the standards by which its measured.

All I have to say is screw Verizon. I have my Pre as my personal phone and a Blackberry with Verizon for work. When I travel I get a better signal with the Pre pretty much everywhere. Internet on the BB is slow pretty much everywhere compared to the Pre. Who wants to pay an arm and a leg for crap service.

I live in North Hollywood. CA., and my EVDO signal frequently jumps to the 1X sign. And I need to get Airave just to get a decent reception in my apartment. And I think i average at least two to three drop calls, when walking around my neighborhood.

I think that Sprint shouldnt even pay mind to Verizon. Just keep doing what their doing and focus on growing their 4G network to the point where they will have the opportunity to be #1 As of know they are the only network to provide 4G or am I wrong on that? Either or Sprint has come a long way from what they were lets say 5+ years ago.

I had Verizon for 6 years, 4 of which were in hicksville Georgia but most recently in Los Angeles, CA. In GA I had reception in my town but generally lost coverage in between towns. That's kind of expected since cows don't need cell service.

After moving to Los Angeles, I had more dropped calls and lack of reception than I ever had in GA. I finally decided to try out sprint because I needed an unlimited plan and was pleasantly surprised to get better coverage. I'm rarely be without a signal and almost never roam either. I have the Pre and always have at least one bar at home where my wife's VZ phone loses reception all the time in our house.

Most people I talk to think that Sprint sucks and have been brainwashed with the notion that VZ is the best. I hate Verizon and would love to see them bought out by Sprint.

3g and voice are not the same.

sorry verizon, you are pushing a bit too far this time.

as far as tmobile having cheaper plans...nah ah!.

according to cnet, an android phone with the cheapest voice + text + unlimited data was 74$. Sprint was well...69$...verizon "hard to tell, so many options and hidden cost."

so sprint is still the cheapest, and still has a better network than att and tmo.

please stop writing lies.

Well, my personal phone is my Pre through Sprint and I have an LG phone strictly for work. On Day 2 of my new work phone, Verizon was having trouble with the network for the ENTIRE state.
So "dependable" still goes to Sprint. I've rarely had any issue with the network. I get a dropped call once in awhile but that can/will be encountered with every carrier.

Verizon does have the "droid" going for it and I think they are a good provider (better than T-mobile or AT&T). However, Sprint's "Everything" Plan is cost-effective and the best deal out there combined with the Pre, in my opinion. I think Verizon is just trying to get in a pissing contest over it and it's juvenile.

AM I BIASED? yes

WAS I CUSSING SPRINT OUT DAILY AND THREATENED TO LEAVE CONTRACT EARLY (2 years ago) YES!

Current: I live in Raleigh NC

This Sprint network simply kicks ass with 3g coverage like it is here in RDU ... SIMPLY AMAZING

Sorry but if Verizon wants to really take on this battle, they gotta first prove that they can serve RDU the same or better as Sprint - Absolutely not the case so fsck it. SPRINT FTW

ps. i also have clear wimax .... for the 36.99 i am paying for 6Mb ... also its fantastic. btw 1mbps upload on clear

This is funny. I work for Verizon (Fios, not wireless) and people at work with VZ Wireless phones ALWAYS have problems with data being either dreadfully slow or just not there. While me, with my Pre and Hero (and every other Sprint phone that's come out) never have a problem. Even when my phone shows little to no signal bars, data is always working.

But the add definitely says 3G coverage, so I don't this will go anywhere. Maybe they just threw this out there to prove the same point was true with the AT&T ads.

OH WOW!!! Verizon is pitiful... I must put this out there to you guys. I really think Sprint's network is way better than Verizon and AT&T from the times I use to have them Sprint has been by far the best for me. I live in DC area and it works awsome. Verizon cons to me are: Cost(too much) Too many hiden charges, Service (sucks) *because they might not drop a call but you will be on the phone hearing static saying HELLO!! HELLO!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME!! CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!!! There ads are correct you have to walk around to get the person back saying CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW , GOOD!! lol AT&T is over hyped Cost, too many hidden charges, Service sucks.

I also own a house in Hollister, NC (REALLY COUNTRY) and neither Verizon nor AT&T work down there. I have a Palm Pre and I must say I was walking around talking on the phone using MyTether with no problems at all. (LOVE SPRINT) My dad on the other hand has an iPhone 3G on AT&T network is pissed off about his service down there he might get 1 bar for 3 seconds in one little corner of the house can't get nothing outside though. I thought that was stupid. And my uncle that lives down there had Verizon blackberry Storm and could never get service but his wife has a treo 700 and works great. I hooked her up on how to tether her Palm to her laptop and she loves it. So for Verizon to come at Sprint is dead wrong. I must say I can depend on getting service every where. I dont like repeating myself on the phone saying Can you hear me now, what about now ok good. I rather the call drop save my battery from keep trying to pick up that signal to keep that person on the line using up minutes from verizon getting charged for that time. THEY SUCK>>>> Thats my message
