It looks like the study we posted earlier this week gauging how interested UK smartphone users are in buying the Pre has some merit to as recent tweets [via prethinking] from O2 in the UK seem to suggest. Some interesting tidbits from their twitter feed? They've sold more Pre's today than the total number of handsets they sell in an average day, and over 50% of people who bought a Pre also picked up a Touchstone charger.
We have heard a few reports of low inventory at other locations and as Annie just noted, Movistar went all out with a swanky and somewhat surreal launch party. We've already noted that things seem to have gone well in Germany.
We've launched a new GSM Palm Pre Forum for you folks looking to discuss specific issues for the non-CDMA versions of the Pre, too, so feel free to head on in and tell us how it's all going for you. Members are already compiling APN carrier settings to be found pre-loaded on certain versions of the Pre, if you like the nitty-gritty.

I was going to say Hot, until I saw that photo. :)
How about, silly?
Seems like O2 have funded the odd TV advert in the UK now too!
warm.
I expected palm to sell a lot mroe pre's than what they did. Perhaps my expectations are too high but hey Palm is not trying to be the number smart phone company, they are only shooting to be one of the top!!!
Shapely girls in high heels and leather jumpsuits...soooo hot!!!...with 80's hairdoo's, not so much.
what's with the chicks??
Better than the Creepy Girl in the US ad..
Lol, those ads were weird.
I thought it was ok, mostly techie people who knew about it prior to launch but saw an ad or two on TV and can't fault the launch night service o2 gave me on Wednesday along with a free touch stone Hot in my eyes and they even got my friend to sign up to her first contract for it and she wasn't even vaguely interested before! So I think once people eneter stores they will fall in love with it, o2 just need to get people there but glad to see they ani't going to bad.
That picture looks like an "Addicted To Love" video. Where's Robert PALMer?
Our Sprint store can't keep Pres in stock for longer than a few days.
My friend went and got one yesterday, and they won't be getting any more for a week and a half...he got the last one they had.
Definitely much bigger UK launch/much better publicity than Treos ever received. Most O2 shops seem to have large displays of working Pre's with lots of people having a play with. I bought mine from Phones4U (managed to get some free accessories if I agreed to keep their insurance 3 months) who sold one to another customer at the same time as me and were demoing one to 2 more customers while I was there.
This is nothing like Treos, which didn't really catch on over here. If O2 keep giving them pride of place in their shops and on their website they will be very successful
Picked my Pre up on friday at the o2 store in Fulham Broadway. The shop didn't open until 10 and there were 3 of us queuing! I did see the Pre advert showing during X-Factor this saturday though. It is also on the front page of the o2 magazine.
All that's missing is a rotating platform and fireworks.
I'm thinking outlandish (yet fun) face paint, heavy drum beat...then in A Capella
"I...want to rock my phone, ALL NIGHT...and cloud sync EVERY DAY!" (rinse and repeat)
various power chords
The best advertisement I've been able to see live is a poster in the window with no Pre's inside the store...But that was at a Sprint Brick and Mortar. I've heard I might have better luck down the road at the Best Buy.
Here’s our take:
C
"I...want to rock my

So, when do we see a video on YouTube?
;)
Well I did dress up like Ace Frehley back in the day...won a halloween costume contest even. Maybe I could dig out the old costume from storage and...
I'm not so sure about the chords you chose though...Wouldn't
C D M A
be more appropriate? :D
Sorry to be so 'silly' so far on my postings here. Unfortunately, I still don't have a Pre. I'm going to have to wait for Verizon to carry the Pre since my office uses Verizon. I'm hopeful that they won't cripple the phone too much, but seeing as this will be my first smartphone* I might not notice anyway. Hopefully, if I'm able to secure a Pre after the first of the year, I can contribute in more meaningful ways.
*Not that I'm currently smarter than my existing LG VX8300.

LOL!
Just need to figure out how to play that M:)
Not silly at all, it is rather refreshing to put the chords together instead of thinking "emulating, emulating" all the time.
