Sprint this morning has unveiled its latest in their drive to revolutionize the way we use our cell phones: Any Mobile, Anytime. The new plan feature will allow you to use your Sprint phone to call any mobile phone on any carrier at any time for however long you like. Essentially, it amounts to unlimited calling to all cellular phones.
Sprint Any Mobile, Anytime will be added to all Everything Data and select business plans at the start of the next billing cycle. Any Mobile, Anytime will be added free of charge, essentially serving as an expansion of Sprint's current Sprint-to-Sprint unlimited mobile calling. Any Mobile, Anytime will not apply to calls made while roaming (since you aren't using Sprint's network when you roam).
And since all Palm Pre phones require an Everything Data plan at minimum, all of you rocking webOS will soon be graced with free mobile-to-mobile, courtesy of Sprint.
UPDATE: Sprint has posted a new commercial on YouTube for Any Mobile, Anytime. It brings back Dan Hesse, but this time he's at the Guggenheim Art Museum in New York City and *gasp* he's in color! Check it out after the break.
Thanks to everybody that sent this in!

OMG!!! thats alot of pre's
LOL!!! That's funny!! But I agree with you..... I thought they were bees at first lol!!!!
AND OMG THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I screamed like a schoolgirl at an MJ concert when I read this @ 7AM!!!!
This is a big boost to the Everything Data plan. No roaming charges and free nights and weekends starting at 7pm and now unlimited moble to moble. I might even downgrade from the simply everything plan. I only save about $10 but with this being added on,that 900 minute limit seems like a number I wont worry about hitting now because of this.
Sprint is really stepping up their game w/this and the whole new lineup of smartphones (to include the pixie soon) GO Sprint!
That's bad ass.
WOOOOW!
This maybe the start of a more beautiful relationship!
AMEN TO THAT!!!! I've been waiting for this moment for a long time.......
* on bended knee* "sprint, my love....my heart... My soul.... Will you marry me?"
after a few years of waiting for sprint to get there act together im glad to see them be the first to roll out TRUE mobile to mobile. (not to mention all the bad-A phones they carry/will carry). finally and thanks.
I just woke up, saw this and immediately changed my plan. Just saved $30 a month. Thanks Sprint!
What would make that graphic even better if they had logos of ATT, Tmobile, and all other rivals
What would make that graphic even better if they had logos of ATT, Tmobile, and all other rivals
That would be free advertising for Att, Tmobile, et al.
I think they want to show the fact that ALL phones are just like your buddies on Sprint now.
nb
OK OK OK I must be misunderstanding something here about this offer so would appreciate an explanation.
Are Sprint saying that as long as you are on their network as a subscriber you can call any mobile phone on any network and they won't charge you for the call? ????
Does this mean the Sprint plan that this will be added to currently doesn't charge for sprint mobil to sprint mobile calls and that this has now been extended to all mobile phones on any network?
I assume they previously retrieved their charges through a standard plan charge and the minutes used calling outside of the Sprint network?
If that is the case then aren't they significantly reducing their income through the removal of calling charges to external networks??
How is this possible without some other revenue stream to make up for the loss??
They've cut their profit margin & are hoping to pay for it through added subscribers.
They probably also realized that with things like google voice, and other schemes people are using to subvert the minute restrictions, that it is in their interest to do something like this sooner rather than later. Not only will it lead to increased subscriptions, but they are also able to better log calling info to help with their info on usage patterns, etc.
also its limited to the everything data plan so those new subscribers now have to anti up more a month for a data plan rather a call and text plan. and while the new subscribers are getting data plans they might as well get a more expensive phone that does data really well like the pre, pixi, hero, touch pro 2 so in the long run they are getting more customers to buy into the more expensive plans and expensive phones and building ontop of how there networks image reflects on the other networks
AWESOME!!!....Now only if I had people to talk to lol. I have the 450 minutes because I mostly text and email but still, wow, what a great offer. Cheap plans, now mostly unlimited calling to anyone....sprint is just amazing :D
I split the cheapest everything shared plan with my girlfriend and never get anywhere near to using my minutes. I'm mostly data-centric and make a few short calls in the evenings and weekends when it's free anyway. Weekdays I'm too busy at work to be yakking on the phone.
Considering I only know two people with landlines, my allowance minutes usage will be virtually nonexsistent now.
who cares. i have the $99 everything plan. what a rip off.
dood change your plan. Essentially you are getting the everything 99 dollar plan...only cheaper if you switch plans!
I have the $99 plan too. And I am gonna switch to save myself 30 bucks.
nb
yea it is a ripoff but are u sure its going to apply to people who downgrade? what good is the whole thing if they're gonna lose people from the simply everything plan?
SWEET!
I am/have been on the 450 Everything Data Plan since getting the Pre. I also get a 25% discount with my employer.
As with many others, this gives me a virtually unlimited plan for only $52.50 +tax. Very happy to be with Sprint since 2000.
I think this has the most appeal yet to draw subscribers in the smart-phone/data plans arena. This may also encourage and provide incentive for more current subscribers to upgrade to a data phone... such as the new Pixi or existing Pre.
I think Sprint is doing a good job at generating buzz and providing the needed perks to start rebuilding it's network. Now they just need to make sure they don't end up with the AT&T overloaded/slow network issue
Go Go Sprint!
Freakin' Awesome!!! LOVEs ITs!!! Thank you sprint! I Love my PRE! seems like life just keeps getting better ever since she's stepped into my life!
Sprint officially rocks..this isa potential game changer...i expect to see a flood of new subscribers, the Pre, Pixi, Hero, Touch Pro 2 ....with this plan..wow...sprints stock is gonna blow up today.
Spint is going to take some more market share! Excellent move!
Does this work with calling international cell phones or is it US Networks?
US Carriers only.
so you don't have to be a sprint premier customer?
if you had a girlfriend to talk to on a different carrier you would run up minutes. get some more friends.
I'm surprised how many people are really excited by this. I hardly touch my 450 monthly mins. For example I'm currently half way thru my billing cycle & I've used only 33 of my 450 mins. But I've used about 1.5GB of data.
My phone is more of a data device than voice. This won't impact me at all.
Dude people use thier PHONE to actually to TALK to people...lol
Just take a look on the road while your driving... Everyone's talking to someonne. (Or smsing)
No Kidding! The only bad part of this is that I never see another Pre. The only other Pre I have seen is my wife's. And I live in Chicagoland.
I didn't mean to suggest that *all* people are data centric. I'm just surprised at how voice centric it appears that Pre users are. I assumed that most Pre owners had usage like mine: mostly data. Clearly I underestimated how many Pre users love voice.
luckily it aint all about you its a huge FREE promotion to boost sprint...and some people do use their phones alot...sorry you don't...be happy for the network as they are gonna grow extremely from this...
Hell yeah sprint made a great move with this one I have been with them for like 10 years now and they have been 100% for me
Ummm hate to sound ungrateful, but big woop!
I have 3 phones sharing 1500 minutes on the Everything plan that they forced me to have to get the Pre. That already has the nights and weekends. As for mobile to mobile, ehhh no big deal really, I never use the 1500 minutes we have. I think short communication in general is based on text and email these days, so minutes matter less and less.
So for me, this "deal" is a non deal, but oh well, those that like it, Im happy for ya..
Dood....this "deal" is free...its added to the unlimited data plans for free. So it actually IS a big deal. It's not costing sprint's subscribers any xtra fees. It's a bigger perk and a more enticing offer that will draw many customers who use their phone as their home phone...
Think about it...
This will take affect your next biling cycle, if your a new subscriber it will begin today.
So will this work even if I have a family share plane?? I have the pre but just want a lil more info. And does this take effect today???
why do the pres in the picture have three buttons in front??
Its the middle butten plus the two gesture light on the side. slide ur finger up from the middle button, or down to it from ur open application.
oh... stupid me
This will generate a bunch of publicity for Sprint, but other than that it doestn't amount to much. I suspect Sprint did a very careful analysis of the numbers and figured out this will cost them next to nothing. Which means the real benefit to most customers is next to nothing.
Unless you go over your plan minutes, this change has no impact to you at all. And I bet very few customers go over their plan minutes very often. I think I've gone over once in the last 5 years, and even then Sprint gave me 600 bonus minutes retroactively, so it cost me nothing.
The only real benefit here will be if it lets you drop to a plan with a lower minute alotment, but I bet very few customers will bother. I'm already on the lowest "included minutes" share plan available.
This makes a world of difference for me. I have the 450 plan, which I've never hit, but that's only because I'll be careful about making calls during the weekdays, and often times go without calling my parents for a long time (they're on US Cellular and go to bed shortly after 7pm...)
Now with this, I won't have to worry and can call them and talk with them more, which I'm sure they'll appreciate. And I can drop Sprint to Home for my girlfriend, who's also on US Cellular (too many here are).
It's a great thing for those that use it. You can't expect every change to have an effect on those that already don't use what they have.
This is awesome! I have been with Sprint for about 7 years now and I have always had wonderful service with them. This is icing on the cake! Way to go Sprint!!
Ok shit just shitted on the other carriers with this one.. Oh boy!
It's amazing that some people actually think that their carrier just basically giving them practically unlimited minutes for nothing more than they have now is a "big whoop"
If you happen to be in the 1% of the population that actually talks less than 450 minutes or doesn't have a teenager on a family plan than yeah... just be happy for us. But for the 99% of us that actually still talk on our phones this is so incredibly huge.
ty sprint
Haha, now I have this Now-Network-style mental image of all these Sprint customers soaking up all the minutes of their non-Sprint friends.
Pre-owner: Blah blah blah blah blah...
iPhone-owner: Dude! You used up all my minutes!
Pre-owner: ...blah blah blah blah blah...
The irony is this scenario generates more revenue for Sprint's competition!
What I love is the next line where the Pre-owner asks (sweetly) why they put up with a network that has limited M2M minutes? Oh yeah, because they wanted to make a statement by getting an iPhone...
I think the statement just became "I'm the sort of moron that is willing to be nickel and dimed by AT&T for a crappy, slow, unreliable service"
Yes you are correct but lets just say they end up changing to sprint because the other carriers are over charging them for overage. That is the key i believe sprint was looking for. Make the other carriers overcharge the other peeps and BAM! You have a new sprint customer waiting for the Pre.
and because of this I am cancelling my home phone! 99.9% of everyone I know has a cell phone! I saved about 100 bucks off my bill because of this and because I am cancelling my home phone thats another 50 bucks off my bill! NICE!!!
This is more of a trick than a real promotion. From a carrier perspective it is all about Revenue Per Subscriber (RPS). It used to be that most people payed about $40 a month. With the addition of smartphones and data services they are now able to squeeze more money out their subscribers making the lowest possible plan at least $70. Since their cost are mostly fixed it doesn't really matter how many minutes and data you actually use. However the more subscribers they can lure in with a promotion like this helps offset their fixed costs and everything after that is profit. With downward pressure from the unlimited prepaid carriers Sprints introduction of free calls to all cell phone is a step in that direction. How many people who have the unlimited plan actually speak 24/7? It is pretty rare. Anyone who signs up because of this is just guaranteeing Sprint another $70 of profit. It really doesn't matter how much you use.
I work for sprint and alot of the customers that we have that are on the simply everything plan are there because they need it. We see how much they use and it's surprising. Most of them use no less then 3,000 mins a month. So to say it's pretty rare, to you maybe, to me, EVERY day.
Yep. Let's all hate Sprint because they worked out a way to give folks more without charging them more!
After all it's not valuable to you unless Sprint makes a loss on it, right?
Why does it offend you that Sprint want to make money?
As for the price going up when you get a smart phone and add a data plan. Well that was your choice, wasn't it?
Sprint Any Mobile, Anytime will be added to all Everything Data and select business plans at the start of the next billing cycle.
Make sure you're aware of when your billing cycle starts. I got bit by this when I upgraded to the Pre and switched my plan to Everything Data. I got my Pre on June 6 but the unlimited texting didn't kick in until my billing date a couple weeks later. So my next bill had a nice little something extra in it for all the texts I had been blithely sending with the Pre under my old pay-per-text plan.
Sprint reps had better get their act together. I just spoke with 2 different reps and they said the unlimited calling is only to other sprint and nextel phones. Any other carrier the minutes get taken from your bucket of minutes. Who's right? If these reps are wrong. Its sad that they have reps yhat don't even understand their own plans. Horrible.
yes they are stupid. when i called i had to wait 10 minutes while i listened to her read up and the new plan. now i got the hook up. lower minutes saving $$$
This is something soooooo new, alot of reps weren't told about it till today. They kept this thing LITERALLY on the d low. So please give them a little break. Most don't have time to spend on the computer and lookup every new thing that is coming out.
Is this exciting news for the US then?
This has been pretty standard for all phone contracts in the UK for..well..as far as I dare to remember.
How much would a contract with Unlimited Texts/Unlimited Calls (Mobile-Mobile)/Unlimited Data cost in the US?
$99/month
Since when? AFAIK standard UK mobile phone plans don't include unlimited free calls to mobiles on other networks???
BORING!!!!!!!
Lets see, I can call for 4,000 min to another mobile phone but if I want to forward my calls it costs $.20/min???
WOOHOO SPRINT!
This is a neat promo. The only problem is that where I work, I roam all day. So far, nothing has been said about my data roaming and my voice roaming. I still think it is great and I believe that Sprint is trying its best to stay with the competition. For what I pay, I can't complain. I have the pre and, yes, it does lack some real world applications/hardware, but overall, it is a great phone. It picks up on roaming better than any other phone that I have had and the switching of apps is really neat. Overall, I am really happy with Sprint.
Just a little FYI, the NEW unlimited mobile to mobile does not apply when you are roaming, cause technically your not on sprints network. Just a little info so you don't have any problems in the future
just called sprint lowered my minutes to 450 starting next billing saving $20 a month!!!!
just remember it takes effect on your NEXT billing cycle.
The classic is that they are proudly showcasing the Pre and in the bullet points they are talking about unlimited picture and VIDEO messaging!! It would sure be nice to have that video feature!! They should have put up a picture of the Instinct! lol.... Overall, I'm happy though....75 percent of my calls are to cell phones and 75 percent of those calls are to Verizon customers. I have the 900 minute plan, but I now may be able to take it down a notch to the 450 plan. Good job Sprint!
Anyone know if Google Voice counts as a mobile or does it appear as a land line? I'm assuming it appears as a landline. If so, it's a very subtle way of making it more painful to use google voice, though I'm not enough or a conspiracy theorist to believe this was intentionally targeted at google.
Google voice is a land line call.
well maybe this promotion will free up some minutes for people to use on google voice.
note to sprint: change "anytime" minutes to "land-line" mins lol
I barely use the 450 minutes that I have. My job uses Nextel and my friends were already on Sprint. It is still an excellent idea though and I wonder how other companies will compete with this offer.
does this include incoming calls?
This is great is I share a plan with my 2 teenagers, and they often go over the set amount of minutes of 1500 min, this will save me money sweet!!!
It's amazing that some people are never satisfied with anything. Offer the lowest plans in the industry...nah. Free roaming...big deal. Bring a $99 Simply Everything plan...yawn. For people who actually use their phones, this is huge. I have myself and three others on my family plan. My brother just joined up after I rescued him from Verizon. We were thinking about moving from 1500 to 3000 because of the minutes we all might use, and this completely solves that issue for us.
Even if the change isn't going to affect you personally, you have to admit that this is going to be a huge deal for a whole lot of people. Plans can be downgraded to save people money, and there won't be the worry with every call that your minutes are ticking down. Kudos Sprint. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see what the other carriers do to keep pace.
Sprint is beast! :D
I've been with Sprint for over 9 years and they've been phenomenal. They have always taken care of me. I love this and especially being free. GO SPRINT!!!
I don't want more features for the same amount of money. I want either the same features or less for less money. It sucks that I can't get a Pre without having to shell out at least $85/month after taxes. I don't use the phone a lot, but I would like to have a Pre. I'll even pay more for it if my $60 or $50 a month plan doesn't generate enough revenue to cover the subsidy of the phone.
still cheaper than paying for an iphone's access fees...
waaaa....it was ur choice...and to get a quickly growing phone like the pre I feel its well worth it. Go back to ur simple flip phone or better yet pay more with ANY other carrier especially for an iphone...
I second the question regarding Google Voice. Can anyone confirm that GV numbers are considered landlines?
It doesn't matter, add your GV # to your pick 3 and all calls will be free. WHAT? You dont have pick 3, well you best be getting to call sprint and add it, oh ya its free.
I like it. I am on a 1500 minute family share plan. My wife and I are careful about calling, although we never approach 1500 minutes. Now, when the next billing cycle starts its open season. We have just a few friends that still use landlines, but the rest are all cellular. Now its call anyone anytime. Sprint will be replacing my Vonage service now (well next billing cycle.)
good bye home phone!!!!!!
Man, people will find a reason to complain about ANYTHING... For someone that uses the phone a lot, this is going to be huge. For a business user, who makes a lot of phone calls on their device, this will seriously impact the financials on a cell phone bill. I swear, you could give someone a phone with a free rate and someone will still find something to b*tch about.
I wonder how Sprint can tell if who you're calling is a mobile number? What if someone calls you from a mobile number but caller ID is blocked?
On the Google Voice point -
I think this definitely is related - Sprint is rolling the dice on Google Voice REALLY taking off.
From Sprint's POV, it's a win/win/win -
1) they announce this (admittedly) awesome new mobile-to-mobile deal and get all the positive press
2) no one will be pressuring them to offer on a broader scale any kind of "my faves", or anything else that lets one make "free" calls to 1, 2, 3, 5 numbers (I know they have said product, but it's more of a retentions thing and is pretty hard to get access to)
3) They'll get to charge minutes to GV users on all outgoing calls, and incoming calls from GV or landlines.
Pretty brilliant, if you ask me.
so add GV to you pick 3 and all your calls any time any where will be free.
it is not easy getting pick 3, so that is something you cannot recommend to everyone. it just gets people worked up cause they can't get something that was mentioned on a forum.
So, how does this work with Google Voice?
Bah, no delete feature.
For all those big whoop people, here is a question for ya. WHY ISN'T OTHER CARRIERS DOING IT. If it is meaningless and no big deal to the carrier why didnt VZ do this years ago? If the money is in the data why didnt ATT do this for the icrap? Please explain, you think you know it all so please help us out and explain why sprint (everyones customer service nightmare) did this. Again dont say it is free for them to pull this stunt because the other 2 big carriers are not doing it.
I'll tell you why other carriers isn't doing it...
Because Sprint is ahead of the curve this time. It is costing Sprint as you can see just by the comments on this article. Many will drop to a lower level plan since they will not use all their minutes in their existing plan. But, I believe the theory will be that they will make up that difference by attracting new customers. But what I don't understand is that it seems like people are complaining about this...it is not costing you an extra cent, yet it will save many others money on their plans.
This will also make those at other companies want to move to sprint. I will use up all there minutes and cost them more money. So they will probably just move over to sprint.
New Sprint customers = 2 years of income
That is what they want, more and more customers and by far this the best way they can get them. xD
I'm not eligible to recieve a discounted Pre until November. With that being said, coupled with the announcement of this new plan, I am wondering if I should switch plans now or wait until I pick up a Pre. However, if I were to switch to this new plan today, will I be signing up for a new two-year contract or simply switching to a new plan? I know I can call Sprint, but it's a busy day here at work and i want to get input from the awesome Pre users first.
Thanks, as always for the great input you all give.
Switching to a new plan does not renew your contract UNLESS they offer you a credit on your account. The ONLY time your contract is renewed is when you use your upgrade to get a new phone or they offer credit or some kind of incentive to do so.
So I can go into a Sprint store today and request that I am upgraded to this new plan without getting a new phone? Without penalty of starting a new two-year contract and without losing my discount for the Pre in November?
That's great news.
I think I read an earlier comment that said this plan will be added to all Everthing plans at the start of the next billing cycle..if this is the case, I don't have anything to worry about? I currently have the Everything-450 plan.
That is correct. If you are already on the everything data 450 plan for $69.99 then it gets added on your next billing cycle and you can keep it for the pre BUT it has to be the data NOT the everything messaging plan. As far as your discount on the phone you never lose it unless you use it ;)
:-)
I'm sold. Yes, I will stay on the everything data 450 plan, even when I get my Pre in November.
Thanks for the input.
Sprint is moving on up..and some would say to the East side!
(no offense, anyone)
Someone should spoof the Alltel My Circle ad and have the Sprint guy challenge Chad's My Circle contacts with his new army of My Everyone Who Has A Cell Phone contacts.
Then do a Verizon one where the Verizon guy is stuck hanging out with a thousand network technicians while the Sprint guy is partying with a thousand people that he actually wants to talk to.
Overall, kind of a yawn for me. I'm in the 'this is like giving ice to an eskimo' camp. I barely dent my 450 min. Glad to see it for those who will benefit from it though. At least it's a positive story of a carrier showing their customers some love for a change.
I barely make a dent in my 450 most months either, but I still think it's a pretty big deal! Imagine if suddenly you have a family crisis, get a new job where you need to do lots of talking, etc - then (unlike AT&T etc) you're probably not going to receive the cell phone bill from hell.
One of the things I've really come to enjoy about being a sprint user (after being an AT&T customer)is that their plans aren't designed to be a huge money-making gotcha - can't use too much data, send too many texts and (now) use too many mobile-to-mobile minutes.
I can USE the phone and stop about the bill!
To put it another way it's good to be with a company that thinks you can make more money by enabling your customers rather than gouging them!
Switched back to Sprint just Friday and traded in my iPhone for the Pre. After my puny ATT plan, this deal just keeps getting better.
This is a huge let down. I was so hoping for the free jelly beans at Sprint stores and those new food apps.
Congrat's Sprint, you got this one right!
Does this mobile-to-mobile work on the AIRAVE? Also is this Sprint's way of saying sorry we don't allow tethering but here, call all the mobiles you want for free but make the other providers pay!
I am talking to sprint right now and they are saying that the pick 3 is now gone. No longer available. I was going to add my Gv to it. boo!
what you can do is tell them you want to add Sprint TO Home and when they ask for the number give them your GV number. it's $5 but you get unlimited calling.
This is HUGE! I love it! Thank you SPRINT!!!!
This makes me rethink my whole Google-Voice commitment.
Now I will be charged minutes for calling thru my Google number but not my Sprint number.
Hmmmmmmm..........
Sprint is amazing. I can not believe they have such a bad reputation. Sprint has always taken care of me, resolving problems and honoring their word. The only thing they have been lacking were the "cool" phones. But now they got the Palm Pre and they are getting others. Unfortunately Palm and Sprint do not know how to advertise effectively. People still consider the Pre to be "trying sooooo hard to be an iphone." The pre can do everything the iphone can do (besides in some areas, where i am sure a future update will fix), plus more. It is only missing the apps, but damn how many iphone users actually use all their apps on a consistent basis. Most are for "show" like the "contact bump." that is pretty useless unless someone else has the iPhone and happens to have that app. Sure there may be some useful ones, but majority of them are for show/ sh*ts and giggles.
What sprint needs to focus more on is the COST SAVINGS! The reason almost all of us are with sprint. Because the cost is dramatically different to comparable plans. They also need to stop promoting only their "simply everything plan" most people do not need unlimited calling and at $99, it does not show the good deals sprint has. They need to show the "simply everything plan" AND MORE IMPORTANTLY the "everything data plans (pics, txt, inet, etc), 450 mins, etc)" Compare it to how AT&T chargers $10 for unlimited txt messaging (that will convince alot of the mass txt-ers right there) another $20-30 for the iphone specific data plans, etc...
Anyone who runs the numbers and cares about the numbers and who has used the pre and/or recognizes its greatness will see that Sprint is the hands down winner.
.. Now back to the subject, I think the unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier, should have came with a price tag. Sprint needs the money and I am sure most people would pay $5 to add it on. Look at it this way, think of all the people who use to pay $5-$10 to extend their weekend night start times from 9 to 8 or 7. The unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier is way better IMO.
But having it included may peak the interest of new customers and bring them in more than if they offered it as an additional option. Only time will tell. I hope it works out, I think it might, as one person said, each new customer is like profit, once overhead cost are accounted for.
In this generation most people pick their carriers on three categories:
1. phone
(note I was contemplating switching to ATT for the iphone, but lucky the Pre came out and saved it.)
2. cost
and a distant 3rd IMO: Service.
>They also might want to add that they essentially have Verizon's network plus sprints, because of the free roaming. (maybe not say those words, but mention free roaming to expand your coverage)
THIS IS GREAT!!!! what a good move!
now if only i actually got good coverage while at my college campus....
Sprint Rules All!!!
I have two phones on the simply everything plan because most of our friends and family are on at&t or t-mobile. But, the catch! Only on the sprint network... I am roaming about 75% of the time in my own house and I only live 3 miles from the sprint store. This is such a weak sprint area (youngstown, ohio) that I guess only people in big cities get to save money. I called sprint, and they said they're very sorry, but there's nothing they can do. Guess I'm gonna have to continue spending 200 bucks a month if I wanna keep my pre. But at least sprint gets good publicity out of it. I'm disgusted.
Sprint just gained a new customer... I just convinced someone based on this new deal. She's switching in November.
It looks like Sprint is delivering much more than a 1-2 punch.
Everything plans to feint
Palm Pre announced just before iPhone 3G S to jab
HTC Hero announced to jab again
Palm Pixie announcement right hook
Palm Pre price drop left jab
Any Mobile Any Time uppercut
What's next? I'm not saying Sprint is about to take over in terms of market share, but they've just springboarded themselves to the center of the spotlight. Now if they can just expand their native coverage...
Are femtocell calls free?
The more I think about this the more I love it. Remember that it's only free from the Sprint end - the non-sprint customers still pay...
However in most cases the non-sprint customers are not the ones paying - the per-minute gouging means the probably have a plan that gives them far more minutes than the actually use - which they can now use guilt-free to talk to their Sprint using friends!
So
- Sprint get to look like heroes for little or no cost to them
- Non-sprint customers realize they're paying a lot for not being on Sprint (many Sprint customers now can now downgrade and save money - when was the last time THEIR bill got cheaper?)
- AT&T (etc) are getting more of their minutes used, placing more load on their networks
Genius!
so does this mean i can go from 1500 shared minutes everything plan to a lower plan and pretty much still use all the minutes i want...?
please clarify beofre i call and downgrade right now..
thanks...
That is my question exactly.
Can I downgrade from the 1500 shared minute Everything Plan to the lowest cost Everything Plan option and end up with all of the extra (near limitless given the fact that most calls are mobile to mobile)minutes for less money each month?
If that is the case then it seems that 1500 minutes only becomes necessary if a subscriber expects to rack up that many minutes in calls to a land-line or when roaming through other carriers.
Can this be so simple and nice that I refuse to understand it?
It's not that simple. You have to be on a Everything DATA (ED) plan(s). the Everything MESSAGING(EM) plans do not include the M2M. The lowest FAMILY ED plan IS the 1500 ED family share at $129.99. even if you were to go individual that would come out to more: 2- 450 ED individual plan (which is the lowest for individuals) would cost you $139.99, $10 MORE then the family shared.
It is free both ways. I read the fine print. Unlimited mobile to mobile ( calls made or receive from any known U.S Mobile phone). That was my concern at first. But after I read the fine print, I am so happy.
damn, im already on the LOWEST sprint family shared plan. that sucks. but anyways this is a badass add for individual plans. lower your minutes to lowest everything date possible and get this is AMAZING!!!!
That is correct. If you are already on the everything data 450 plan for $69.99 then it gets added on your next billing cycle and you can keep it for the pre BUT it has to be the data NOT the everything messaging plan. As far as your discount on the phone you never lose it unless you use it ;)
Hmm... looks like they changed the business plans too. No more business essentials. No more add on phones. Sounds like they still pool, but everyone one needs to have minutes now.
The "large minute" phone is a lot cheaper though, so I wonder if we can shuffle some things and get a few cheap large minute phones and a bunch of cheaper on the new "Business Advantage" world....
Panic averted.
Other plan no longer available for the Pre.
having had FIVE pres (well only left the store twice lol) this makes it all worth it: AMAZING plans <3
Great move for Sprint, was wondering why they didn't address the favs/circle plan of other carriers but this just tops the cake. I have 3 people on my plan, myself, a chatty wife and overly chatty teenager so now my tensions will be eased every month as I open up my bill to see my charges... with this plan I can't see us going beyond our 1500 minutes so I should expect to see the same billing total every month which really helps me budget our family income.
Hats off to Sprint for a courageous move and for once doing something proactive against the competition.
wow. no doubt about it, im sticking with sprint and letting my buds on other carriers know that SPRINT ROCKS!
sprint wtf are you doing I have to agree that unlimited mobile to mobile is great you know thousands of subscribers will switch to the 69.99 unlimited plan from the 100 unlimited plan
Bottom line, GREAT MOVE Sprint!
1) If it increases their Everything Data Plan take rates and revenue for Sprint then this is a good thing for both parties, Sprint & Sprint Customers! A healthier Sprint will be in a better position for the future, and hands down, Sprint’s Everything Plans are better than their competitions! And, a financially healthy Sprint = better Handset Deals, better Coverage and possibly a faster build-out of Sprint 4G!
2) It is a Game Changer to all other limited 'calling circle' plans, as it trumps them all when it comes to a mobile-to-mobile calling community!
3) Another twist would be for Sprint customers to call and call often to their friends on other wireless networks during the time they use their 'bucket' or 'anytime' minutes! Once you run them over their anytime minutes and they get their overage bill, maybe then they will see the True Value of Sprint's Simply Everything Plans and how Sprint Saves it's Customers Money!
4) With the tremendous lineup of phones Sprint has, great Prepaid offerings on Boost or Virgin Mobile, value differentiator in their Rate Plan Savings and the ReadyNow Customer Service Experience, it is time for everyone to spread the word and get those not on Sprint to try Sprint!
5) Lastly, I would love to see a Sprint TV Ad were they back up a large Dump Truck and bury the guy and his family that pours out the sprinkles in the Verizon ad about their 80 million mobile-to-mobile calling community that they got by buying Alltel and increasing a lot of once Alltel customer's bills! Sprint's has basically created a 250,000,000 mobile-to-mobile community at no charge to it's Customers!
Sweet. Just saved $30/month. 90% of my calls are to other mobile phones. Just checked. Very nice to save some money for a change.
Sprint CS told me this morning this will be out and in coming calls. I have 1500 plan now....I see 450 coming
ALL calls in or out to or from mobile numbers (not in roaming areas) FREE. I was going to swith to 450 from 1500 but I have family plan and 1500 min.
Does it include incoming from those cell numbers that you call?
have any of you paid any attention to sprint when they say "it has the best value in wireless". I'm so glad to see such positive feedback. I was thinking about quitting my job at sprint because everyday i go to work all i hear is nagging and i have to stand there and put a smile on my face and make people happy. But now it just looks like People will be happy and We dont have to worry about explaining to a customer why they went over their minutes.... YAY about time my company did something great to benefit their subscribers.
This is awesome! I cannot wait to switch to Sprint in October. I am so happy -- I just reconnected with my best friend from high school, and with this, I'll still be able to call her for free.
Hooray, Sprint!
With free calls, people are going to call all their friends so much that they too will be forced to switch to Sprint or go broke on their inferior cell providers. Smart Move Sprint!
Not really, T-Moile & Verizon both offer free calls to listed numbers, I think it levels the playing feild
Unfortunately...Sprint is once again having a major billing problem with my phone lines. I just spent about an hour and a half on the phone with customer service. I am getting charged for calls made after 7PM (against my anytime minutes). After all that time there was no resolution as to how they are going to fix the billing issue. I have all but lost faith that they have the ability to fix their billing processes.
how do you know you were charged for calls made after 7?
check this out,
http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/10/sprint-puts-a-twist-and-a-highe...
“Sprint may terminate service if (1) more than 800 minutes, (2) a majority of minutes or (3) a majority of kilobytes in a given month are used while roaming.”
Wow
What do you all think?
I think it will not be enforced
that writer was putting a twist on the terms. The writer states that it will drop users if they use more then 800 mobile minutes. What REALLY the term means is if someone is using about 800 ROAMING mins for 3 consecutive months they may drop you as this is costing sprint a pretty penny. ROAMING minutes is whenever you make a phone call using another carriers network. If your phone says it's roaming, then thats roaming minutes. It's included on every plan, so your not being charged any extra to use roaming minutes, but don't get carried away.
those are the roaming terms and conditions and have been there for over a year.
Yea, sure its a great move but they're going to lose a lot of people from the simply everything plan and possibly family plans. Im just hoping they will gain what they will lose in the form of new subscribers.
not as much as you think. so far at work i've only had one customer go from simply everything to everything 900. which is a $10 difference, not a huge deal.
