Sprint "Freedom Fighter" Shows Off Pre Pics

We know that Sprint employees have been training with the Palm Pre. And looks like a Sprint employee (referred to as "Freedom Fighter") who got his hands on a Palm Pre decided to take some pics of himself showing off Palm's upcoming beauty in the back office. Not only did the guy take photos of himself holding the Pre, he posted them on twitter (since gone) for the world to see! Oops! I guess if we can all see the pics, so can this Sprint employee's boss.

We're going to go ahead and use the disguise that Engadget gave the "Sprint Freedom Fighter."  It all really exploded in our Palm Pre forums after the "freedom fighter" contacted one of our forum members and said that he might have lost his job already.

We always appreciate seeing all the great photos during silly season, but please be careful if you're going to actually post pics of "yourself" holding the Pre.  As much as we love seeing the Pre in the wild, we don't want people losing their jobs over it!

that picture is a chop. look how small the pre is in his hand. if it is real, that is shaq or that pre is 100% cotton and went through the dryer.

I would agree if Dieter's hands on (the few seconds they let him actually hold the device during CES) didn't show the small size of the Pre while in his hand.

In other words, yeah, the Pre is THAT small when the keyboard is retracted. As I remember it, the Pre is vertically shorter than the Centro...I stand to be corrected of course.

I'm not trying to be mean, but if he was truly dumb enough to do this, he should get what he deserves. The term "Natural Selection" comes to mind...

I agree.. If you know something might get you fired DON'T DO IT.

+1

i saw the original somewhere, but yea he already shown his face

Yes, it's real and the Pre is THAT small. Most of the other Pre-in-the-Wild shots were of Asian women and teenagers. The Pre is shrimpy. The screen is small. The keyboard is small. It's not something that will replace the functions of your laptop.

Imaging trying to use a virtual keyboard on that size screen in landscape or portrait with the slider closed. Not gonna happen.

If it is a real picture and even though his face is now masked, he is wearing a pretty distinctive hat at work. I'm sure that has given him away.

Go Badgers!

It's nice you guys used the altered pic, but the original was already all over the place last night.

I feel bad for the guy, but I seriously doubt he got his hands on the Pre without signing a NDA.
If he did sign one then, unfortunately, he's going to lose his job. If he didn't, then whoever gave it to him will most likely lose theirs.

The phone looks Photoshopped in to the picture. However the Pre does seem to be the right size. Just strange that the person would choose the phone app, to show off their possession of the device! The dialer app is like the default still-shot screen that Palm shows to the public on the internet, that's why it looks a lot like a montage.

Here is a life-size image of the Palm Pre. Set your browser image viewer to 100%. Set your screen resolution to 1280 X 800, the image will appear in a life size scale!

Erganomically, do you think it will fit well in your hand? Of course!

From a user experience perspective, is it big enough/too big? Is the 3.1" display big enough/too big?
Is it too big for one-handed use? Could it be bigger without ruining the one-hand usability?

Is the iPhone 3G bigger than what's erganomically reasonable?

Put your current cellphone/smartphone up to the computer screen and compare it.

LOL, setting the resolution to make the pic look lifesize doesn't quite work that way. On my 22" widescreen monitor at 1280 x 800, if that was lifesize, I'd need to carry the Pre around in a backpack it's so big! :-)

I don't think you should have posted the related picture. At the very least, you should have blurred out his whole body and hat as they could still give him away...

If this isn't a publicity stunt by Sprint, this guy is history, prethinking already posted the unedited photos showing his face: http://www.prethinking.com/home/2009/5/15/sprint-employee-decides-to-sho... Via twitter.
