Sprint just announced that they will be the only wireless carrier to offer live NFL Network game telecasts via its exclusive NFL Mobile Live application and on Sprint TV beginning Nov. 12 when NFL Network televises the first of its eight-game Thursday Night Football schedule. Both NFL Mobile Live and Sprint TV are available at no additional cost to Sprint data subscribers with a data plan.
The first televised game features the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Chicago Bears on NFL Network. [Editor note: the Palm Pre is unable to withstand being doused in tears, so Bears fans should use with caution - Dieter]. NFL Network’s Thursday night telecasts will be available to Sprint subscribers including games on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26) and special NFL Network games on Saturday, Dec. 19, and Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25).
The good news is that for those who don't have access to the NFL Network broadcasts, they'll be able to view the action from the comfort of their Palm Pre or other Sprint smartphone.
The NFL Mobile Live application is chock full of everything a football fan could want and has been a great way to keep track of the goings on while being out and about. The addition of live action video puts this app over the top, as long as the battery doesn't conk out.

ahhh I've been waiting all season for this and my whole life to have first post!!!
Watching a football game on the Pre, don't think it will be really viewable, but heck I will give it a shot and see what it looks like.
It's not bad. I watch it on NFL SuperFan by DirecTV on my Pre. Every once in a while it is blocky. I just hope that the servers can keep up with everyone watching for free.
I actually find this really useful for people who don't have access to all of their team's games. If it works about like it does through DirecTV's Sunday Ticket app, this will be quite nice - although the quality is about what you would expect from a little phone: you may not be able to make out the player's names on their jerseys, and sometimes the ball may be a little hard to see while it's soaring through the air, but it's very watchable.
Battery life, on the other hand.... lol (I think I started the game around 60% and I was at 5% by halftime)
So are we taking bets now regarding the connection problems that will be happening on Thursday night?
Before I got my Pre, I was on Sprint w/a Palm Centro that also had the NFL mobile app. And it streamed the TV just fine. Sprint has been releasing this app for a while now on almost every sprint phone for a while now. I doubt that there will be connection problems. But I could be wrong.
(How's that for a nice definitive stance?)
I watched part of the Notre Dame game on my Pre over the weekend and it looked really good so I anticipate the NFL game should be good as well. Unfortunately, I'll probably turn the game off at halftime in disgust. Stupid Bears.
How in the world is this going to work? NFL audio cuts out and does NOT work a majority of the time. SprintTV is NOT watchable due to blockiness and cut outs. Combining two failed offerings will not lead to success.
WELL YAY!!! Screw something useful like Docs To Go and thank the baby jeebus we have the ability to watch the *#&$&@*$&#*$# NFL on my stupid phone. Now if ONLY we could watch NASCAR too then I could sit around drinking Natty Light and beating my wife with my Pre and have a truly complete life.
This is interesting.
Just stay home and edit your .doc and .xls files on your home PC at night. It's not as if you need to leave your apartment to go on a date or anything. That would mean getting out of a T-shirt and flip-flops.
Are you spying on me? LoL...
No, I am...
Well, duh... how is one supposed to follow a proper wife-beating schedule without a decent spreadsheet app? Geez, half the time she probably won't even update the spreadsheet properly, but at least she'll have one.
As a bears fan i was upset, but then i thought about how true it really it. And remember throwing your phone will not make cutler not throw an interception....
Did you really need to take a shot at my Bears?
Everyone should take a shot at the Bearcubs. And the Viqueens.
Here's my obligatory shot at the queens: Do you know what keeps Wisconsin from falling into Lake Michigan? Minnesota sucks.
I'm sorry, are the Bears 7-1? Are the Packers? Nope. Didn't think so. Go troll elsewhere.

ROTFLMAO!!! Classic, Dieter, simply classic!
+1 love it :)
Dieter, I read this article to my husband (not knowing you had said this), and he about died!
Best laugh I've had all day ....
lets go cowboys!
Most people who have access to a TV and NFL network won't use this, however, some of us have to work. I have a flexible job schedule and I choose to work later in the day into the evening, thus having something like this is nice.
...So, you watch TV at work? Must be nice...
I will be at the game and streaming it on my Pre!! Oh heaven! I'll let ya'll know how the delay is from live to on phone. So excited to have instant access to the replays!
Dere is only one netwerk where you can watch a certain team from a certain city wit C at the beginning, O at de end and HICAG in da middle...da Sprint. Wit love and bratwurst- Ditka
DO U KNOW HOW MUCH THIS CAN HELP SPRINT AND PALM SALES (but man they need 4G 2 get going or something)
Am I to understand that we will only be able to watch games shown on the NFL Network?? Does that mean that I'll have to continue listening to the Jets on NFL audio since they RARELY broadcast the Jet games here in the ATL?
For a second there I thought Sprint was giving us the NFL Sunday Ticket for free..
Oh well, it's something.. Thanks Sprint; this and Any Mobile Any Time are two very nice adds..
Too bad streaming anything in the NFL app doesn't work on wifi for me. Am I the only one that has this issue?
Dieter,
Bite me.
Dan
This should be interesting. But come on Sprint, why couldn't you partner with the NBA? I'd love to watch the Lakers get beat up on while on the go.
so who would u like to beat my lakers??...please name your team so i can go off on them!
Is this or isn't this an app I can have on my Pre? I can only seem to find NFL Network on a channel within Sprint TV. But you mention the "exclusive NFL Mobile Live application" which I don't see in the app store...
Thanks for any help you can offer.
49ers fan here whose cable provider doesn't offer NFL Network -- I'm glad for this! :) But yeah, it's nothing new, either.
/Kevin
great, just great. Now as a fan of the Cleveland Browns I can take my crippling depression with me wherever I go. Thanks alot, Sprint.
@Connect11
LMAO!!
+10 for that one!
(p.s. I live in So FLA so I sympathize... ;) )
Go NFL.. I will be watching the games.....
Directv Supercast has been broadcasting live games. It tends to be choppy at times, but it works. I believe NFL Network's Game Day broadcasts live too.
I can’t wait for more live games to be made available on the pre, I only recently realized how easy it is to manage my affiliates blog site with my pre using a web OS system download, it’s fantastic.
