It’s a small blurb in a Reuters article mainly about BlackBerries in China, but here’s the important part for us:
"China Telecom aims to sell BlackBerry handsets and Palm smartphones in China by early next year, as it tries to gain share from its two larger mobile telecom rivals, a source familiar with the situation said on Monday."
China Telecom is China’s smallest major cellular network (though the largest Chinese CDMA network), trailing behind rivals China Unicom and China Mobile. China Unicom recently launch the iPhone in China, though its high price has apparently limited the iPhone’s success. China Mobile, on the other hand, will be launching Dell’s new smartphone offering, the Android-running Dell Mini 3i.
This also is not the first time we've heard of China Telecom pursuing Palm. It was reported back in August that the carrier was in talks to carry Palm devices.

Not sure why Palm is addicted to tiny carriers, but on the plus side, the smallest telecom in China is probably 3 times the size of Verizon.
Its this way the 1.3.1 put in the works of changing your search engine defaults?? China's govt doesn't care much about google :(
I think Google has pretty good relationship with the Chinese government. What I am looking forward to is Chinese input system. It is not there now, and entering Chinese market sure require one. iPhone's Chinese input system is amazing. I have doubt Pre can match that (with handwriting recognition), so I will be happy if they only support a few simple methods.
Chinese input is not an issue I think. Because webOS is based on Linux. There are at least two very mature input methods in Linux. It's just take and modify.
And now, there is a "non-natural" Chinese input for webOS. It use web/ajax.
er... what happen to not releasing in asia ??
We have a family plan, with 4 members on it. 3 of us have used our upgrade to get the better price on the pre, but my father hasn't been able to upgrade yet. If the 3 of us have already upgraded, and we have renewed our contract already, will my father be able to get this price from the online bestbuy? It says with a 2 year renewal, but we have already renewed. Does this exclude us from this deal? Thanks!!
