If there was any doubt that Verizon is looking to turn things around after sluggish initial sales of the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus, it's time to put those to rest. After dropping the mail-in rebates in their own stores, it looks like The Network is making it easier for 3rd parties to sell the Pre Plus at lower prices. Our own Wirefly affiliate has the Palm Pre Plus for $39.99 for new Verizon customers after instant rebate and still has the Palm Pixi Plus for the low low price of free (yes, those are 'support PreCentral' links). Amazon is also selling the Pre Plus for the $39.99 and the Pixi Plus for one cent.
The best part about the above options is that, unlike what seems to be happening at most Verizon retail locations, when you use them you won't have a Verizon employee trying to convince you that you should get a Droid instead.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

yeh baby!

Interesting that they specified that it was black.
after hearing that Sprint might ban tethering, I've been contemplating on goin for a plus model on VzW :/
Sprint already banned tethering months ago. If you've been doing it, you've breached your contract and are subject to fees. Good luck not getting caught. I tether also and I sure hope they never find out.
what ticks me off is that they won't do it with add a line. Or Bogo
149.99 /2 = 75.48 each Might have to add 149 for the second phone to bill but i will get the money back
Pre store is 39.99 for the first and 119.99 for the add on = 159.99 Which comes out to 79.99
hmmm... that can't be good, it's only been on verizon for 2 months.
Maybe they should do the phone free on a 2 year deal. Here in the UK on an 18 month deal i got my phone for free. With that i get 900 mins, unlimited data, unlimited text messages and free WIFI connection to BT Openzone which you can connect to when out and about for 40 Pounds per month. We dont get charged for receiving calls or texts which i think US users get charged.
The Pre Plus is also available from Amazon Wireless for $49.99 with a two year contract.
A couple of months ago, I predicted that the Pre would be a free phone inside of a year. It looks like it might get there inside of a quarter. Since both WebOS phones have already gone bogo, that means that Verizon not only can't sell them, they can't give them away either. This can't be a good sign. I don't think it means that Verizon is getting more serious about selling the Pre; I think it means they are trying to clear inventory they are having trouble moving. That actually bodes poorly for future orders.
The Droid is BOGO as well, and it clearly sells well. It's just a promotion.
In Canada, they really dropped the ball going to the BELL network. First, BELL put out its new multi-billion dollar GSM 3G network just a couple of months after the Pre hit the old (and slow) network. Anyone who has a brain wouldn't buy a pre on the old network... especially since BELL will eventually phase out the old network and you will be forced to buy a new phone.
Secondly, I knew more about the pre and how it operated then any sales person from BELL I talked to. I am not even with BELL but I am an old Palm user so out of interest I follow Palm product lines. Anyhow, it was sad... I am waiting for Palm to land on Rogers so I can sell my iPhone and hopefully get a new hardware device from Palm.
If only Palm would sell their products directly to the consumer. Those who want/need a discount on harware can wait for the carriers.
if you go into a sprint store they will try to sell you the samsung moment not a palm pre adroid is taking over. come June palm better have something ready for Sprint or at least announced a new phone or ill probably be switching to something else as well. I know more about the Palm Pre then anybody ive ever talked to at Sprint they all push the newest phones.
The recent Premier members magazine did not mention the Pre or the Pixi. Its not looking good for Palm.
It's kind of bull for people who paid full price. I guess thats the price you pay for wanting a new toy right when it comes out. But it's worth well over $39.
I hope this doesn't mean that verizon is trying to dump them so they can stop supporting palm. After they slashed centro prices, they went a long time with no Palm offering at all...

Regardless of where you think webOS will take Palm, the reality is Palm only has so many lives and only so much cash. You mention hardware issues... well I had the Treo 680 and although I loved the OS, the hardware gave me major problems and two years into use I had to buy a new phone. Most people are not willing to put up with sub-par hardware. I went from the 680 to an iPhone yet I still want to go back to Palm. The iPhone from a hardware stand point is of such wonderful quality I have to admit it will be hard to take the risk of moving back to a Palm device. The Pre SHOULD of been FLAWLESS. (.) PERIOD.
Attention: ...for those wanting to jump off Palm's bandwagon - nobody's stopping you! Grab yourself an Android powered (variant) phone and see if you get even the hint of support than what Palm has done for it's two webOS devices. Do not just complain about poor sales, lack of stock (ching ching), or the word of analysts who know finances BUT don't know the mobile atmosphere like the players themselves...just go on and make the switch already.
I, along with many many on here, have faith that Palm will become top-dog with it's webOS platform. Yes the current device is plastic and has some mechanical flaws...it's called trial and error. We all knew when buying a brand new device and OS (both 1st gen) that there would be things not in our liking...and it came to be. Look @ webOS today as it has evolved since day 1 - it's amazing! Palm has learned from the "plastic" mistake and will improve on the next webOS device - whether it be C40 or other.
We who back Palm will get to experience the evolution of greatness while all the Android (variant) phones enjoy their current 1.6 state lol.
webOS > Android
Its not Android you should worry about, its Windows Mobile 7.
I agree. Win7 mobile actually has potential. I was hoping Microshaft would continue to produce garbage in an already crowded market for phone platforms.
Hopefully Palm and the Linux community will create a hige lead before Win7 can ain momentum. Then they can fight it out with Google...
Maybe this will finally open up the platform. Seriously, how can ANYONE prefer Android? My brother has one (the Droid), and besides the limitless number of gun soundboards*, the Pre beats it in every way.
*Sarcasm intended
Just picked one up @ Wirefly today. I've been following this phone on Precentral for the past 3 months. Couldn't pass up the price. Cheaper than buying it at the retailer with my NE2. Hearing a lot of mixed reviews about this phone but I'm trying to stay positive.
The Touchstone charger is now more expensive than the phone...
O2UK are now giving it away free on every tariff.
C40 is aşk şiirleri a move in dantel chess game, Where sohbet 2 pawns black and white are face to face, but the çiçek
white pawn has to çiçek siparişi it side a diyet horse, that will take next sohbet the black pawn.
The white pawn with güzel sözler the horse is a Palm device, özlü sözler and the black pawn represents the competitors.
This is a good move, I‘m thinking of getting this palm pre myself, $39.99 sounds like great value and useful for network affiliate uses. I’m glad they are reacting like this too an increasingly difficult market with the arrival of devices like the Iphone instead of simply raising prices.
