Wow! We've hit the motherload! Engadget seems to have gotten ahold of the above photo indicating many popular companies that plan to have WebOS applications "available at or near launch."
Pandora, Electronic Arts, SGN, Craig's List, Sling Media, DirectTV, Facebook, MySpace, Match.com, Loopt, Twitter, City Search, Zagat, Fandango, Movietickets.com, Lonely Planet, FlightView, NYTimes, AP Mobile, ESPN, Handmark Stocks, Bank of America, Intuit, Epocrates, WebMD, Salesforce.com, Austin Lane, DataViz, Mark/Space
Pandora we're well aware of having WebOS aspirations. Their application was highlighted both at CES and CTIA. We've known about Facebook's deep integration as well as its full fledged Facebook app for a while now and Fandango's touted application is very looked forward to. Meanwhile, we've always had our rumours and side comments hinting at DataViz's DocumentsToGo, and a WebOS version of Epocrates. I guess this helps to further enforce those rumours.
Electronic Arts could bring some interesting games to the platform. Craig's List and Match.com seem a bit odd, but to each their own. MySpace integration could be an interesting development, challenging Facebook's WebOS monopoly. And certainly, many will like that Twitter is making their own app and that Mark/Space is mentioned, given they're the well-known creators of The Missing Sync.
One particularily odd mention, is that of Sling Media. They've previously said they wouldn't be developing for the WebOS until the OS proves itself (interestingly the particular post where they say that has since been removed). Looks like their philosophy has changed and they'll have an app ready at or near launch.
Personally, I'm quite excited!
Thanks to everyone who sent this in

If you are referring to the post I think you are talking about, about with slingcommunties, it is kind of irrelevant. It was posted by MegaZone as a personal opinion, not an official comment, and he was basically fired for making that comment without approval from Sling.
what about ebay?
They mos def need an ebay app.
dataviz is confirmed, see the slides in the previous post.
DocsToGo has been stripped down to viewing only included, with a paid version to edit. My TX and Centro has editing all along.
Apparently innovation means going backward.
I am pretty sure Palm does not make DTG, DataViz does. So if you want to criticize someone for one year's "innovation", it should be DataViz.
Its a nice start to build on.
if match.com is not working, then i guess you get busy craigslist, why does it sound like the pre is for a bunch of losers who can't get a date?
Why do "anonymous" people make ridiculous, irrelevant, negative comments like this on this site?! I am so tired of seeing these types of comments. I am sure 99% are from people from theiPhoneBlog.com , but they go under "anonymous" because they are too panzy to own up to what they say!
Because there are apps on the device that have to do with social networking, then the Pre is for "losers who can't get a date"? Seriously?
Precentral.net feature request: ban Anonymous posting, and make registration mandatory. The signal-to-noise in the comment threads is getting unbearably low.
Agreed.
I am for this
I agree: "anonymous" = low/no accountability = irresponsibility (I don't like wasting my time reading comments by cowards). One should not be afraid to make valid negative comments.
Exactly how are all the (not verified) anything but anonymous?
Perhaps those apps are top sellers on other devices famous for apps. I know how crazy about my iP friends are that they know where their friends are all the time. I cant be bothered by that, but its the first thing out of their mouth when they thing I should joint them in Apple land.
SLING! That would be amazing... one of the programs that would push me over the edge for sure!
I'm actually excited, even, about whatever kind of app craigslist could cook up. I'm a craigslist-a-holic a lot of the time, and whatever would make it easier, faster, and more intutitive on the Pre works for me!
Here is so more good news! Concerning VVM:
http://www.everythingpre.com/articles/2009/5/22/third-party-developer-ph...
I also saw a link saying that the Pre will have Visible Voicemail from SpinVox, this link is not about the Pre, just VisVM: http://blog.spinvox.com/2008/11/19/iphone-spinvox-users-visual-vs-visible/
where are you seeing information about spinvox on the pre? it would be freakin' awesome... but i can't find any mentions of it on either of the links you posted. thx.
On one of the EverythingPre posts, someone said that SpinVox is "exactly what they are doing". I seriously cannot find that post right now. Still searching... will put it up when I find it.
The particular post is where I got the link about SpinVox... still looking...
Still cannot find the posting, but the poster made a point about how you will see a number beside the voicemail symbol in the phone app indicating how many "scribed" voicemails you have to read. I am no expert on this issue, but Pre's capability with this kind of voicemail system seems very promising. Remember, the the original VVM discussion about the twitter post from palm_inc said that integrated messaging does not work in the exact manner as "visual voicemail".
From this SpinVox blog post:
Back in February, at Mobile World Congress, yours truly was given a fantasically in-depth walk through (I took some nice photos), of the handset in question and, as I did back then, I can again - exclusively reveal that the Palm Pre will be *completely* SpinVox ready out of the box.
You simply just have to enter in your usual SpinVox activation code and you’ll be away!
That totally destroys Visual Voice Mail, IMO.
Thank you very much! That was the exact post I was looking for! Maybe if you tweet palm_inc about this and they respond, then all the Pre-blogs will create threads about it. On the other hand, Palm may not be able to divulge such information.
So how does one acquire a SpinVox activation code? Do you know any other Sprint devices that have used SpinVox in the past?
Hi there,
I look after Social Media over at SpinVox and I wrote the post you mention. I'll be putting a quick 'how to' on how to get SpinVox up and running on your Palm next week. :)
In the meantime, http://ureach.com/spinvox to sign up for the voicemail service now...
Also - SpinVox has worked with Palm before here:

Hope that helps,

SpinVox
Sling and 3G would definitely show up AT&T.
It did, it has, for more than two years.
Has anyone heard anything about a Google Maps App?
Did you just get up from hibernation?
Here is quick one from months ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLMFUrzVWkk
Nice. Troll.
Obviously, you are very articulate!
They were articulate enough to point out your troll and insult to a simple question.
Couldn't be ol' backbeat could it?
I think "Daniel" is backbeat or one of the trolls from BGR. Why don't they stay there!!
Yes, agreed. Actually, I am a relative newbie and thought to myself that I might have asked a similar question, but would certainly hesitate based on those kinds of responses.
Why, no, I have not been hibernating, I'm just learning.
Clearly the sensitivity level in this forum is set to "throbbing" if lighthearted jokes like "Did you just wake up from hibernation?" is setting anyone off! So I guess "what rock have you been sleeping under?" is disallowed also huh...
A quick scan seems to indicate that you seem to be the most thin skinned of all!
What in God's name is wrong with you people?! I poke a lil fun at someone who asks a question that has been answered months ago you act like I am trying to belittle the guy or like I have committed a moral sin or something!
I'm not terribly familiar with Sling, but could it be possible that they are starting with an app to control your Slingplayer, but not stream content from it?
Also, the Match.com app could have a lot to do with helping singles locate each other in the real world. For example, you walk into some venue and pull up the app and it tells you that "MommyNeedsLuv" is there and offers to send her your profile and give her the chance to respond and meet you right now. I think that Asia has been doing something similar with phones for years now...
yes the pre will have google maps in it fron the get go and it works great. i know this for a fact because ive had the chance to use the pre
Are we supposed to fawn all over you now? lol
Google maps is on every smartphone. The question is does the Telnav program which does much more than google maps for driving navigation and which you pay for by getting Everything plan come or not?
Yes it does comes as SprintNav. Free with any SimplyEv data plan.
So it comes on the plan you are paying for, but does not exist as an application in the case of Pre. Bad news.
It comes on the phone as Sprint Navigation. It's built-in.
Clear?
Dude...
Sprint Nav has been demoed many times. It will be there on day one. Google it and you will see pictures.
I am the Fri, 05/22/2009 - 23:05 anonymous, asking if present, not the 05/23/2009 - 08:23 anonymous replying that it does not.
I was interested because it is left out of the latest info and the detailed 23 page sprint publications leaked yesterday. I find it interesting the key feature is absent in all the recently produced printed material and therefore asked.
Hmmm... Seems strange that it is always an "anonymous" poster that is trying to post some "Bad news" about the Pre. Especially here since everyone knows that SprintNav comes with every Sprint smartphone.
That is a bit paranoid
Paranoid?? About what? I am making an observation!
What is your observation? That you are totally "anonymous" as well. Are you posting your full name? Link to your blog?
You are an anonymous fanboy who makes multiple factual mistakes and doesn't own up to them.
Your mistakes have been countered with facts from known posters verified posters with long time posting histories at treocentral forums. You call people "Queer" for pointing out that you HAVE to sign up with Palm, you deny it, and then with EGG DRIPPING all over your FACE you refuse to even apologize for attacking people who were correct when you were totally wrong.
That makes you a troll. And since you are as anonymous as anyone posting as anonymous, it makes you paranoid as well.
:)
I cannot believe in one week we'll have the Pre and I'll be able to spend $75 on apps :P I wonder if I can trade in some of my iPod Touch apps for the Pre versions, I wish.
One week? Try 2.
Mark/Space is very good news, as they make Missing Sync, which has been a way useful application for syncing with your PC. I have been using it on my treo since Palm had pretty much not updated their syncing for mac since the intel version of OSX so it ran like junk.
If they are making Missing Sync for the Pre that means mac users can enjoy full syncing of contacts & ical events
I'm very happy to hear that Craigslist is being added to the Pre. I use Craigslist for purchases/sales much more than eBay nowadays. Those applications look like a hit to me :)
EA & slingmedia for me
OMG! This is getting hot!
This anonymous "person" stands for anoying / abnormal / basic IBone user.
Be afraid the real SmarthPhone is coming and will kick iBone ass bigtime!
BTW did you guys read the comperation iphone vs pre in iphone blog? maked me laught big time, the compare the things that the iphone and pre gots in commun. Please somebody tell the author to wright the 9999 extra features that Pre got and iphone not... Sad and sick people...
If they did that then it would actually show that the Pre is superior! They can't do that on the iPhoneblog!
true :)
Pre is superior in certain respects to some other smartphones and clearly inferior in others. It all depends what is important to the user.
What phone and what respects are you referring to that the Pre is clearly inferior to?
yeah, I was thinking about that also :P
I see Epocrates is on the list. Halleluia!. My wife is a Physician Assistant and the doc's all love this one. It's detailed medication info with updates. I would expect if Epocrates is doing it, the updates would be automatic, real time, latest info on drug interactions.
She's going to love this one. It's been a worry since we decided to upgrade from our Treo's.
Never before in the history of mankind has it been easier to reach out to people all over the world. Online communitieslike MySpace, make meeting new friends with similar interests incredibly easy. MySpace is a great place to share tips, ideas and stories about the things you find most interesting. If you have a question about your hobby, you can easily find the answer through your network of members with similar interests.
