Mac users and Mark/Space aren’t the only ones getting their local sync on this morning. Chapura has announced a free beta of their own solution for Outlook users on Windows: PocketMirror. Like The Missing Sync, PocketMirror creates a new Synergy profile on your Palm Pre and syncs over your Wi-Fi network. PocketMirror will connect with your Outlook contacts and calendar and port everything seamlessly onto your Pre, and back again when you make an edit. This is great news for all you Outlook users out there!
The PocketMirror beta is available right now in two parts. The Palm Pre component is a free download from your on-device App Catalog, and the desktop component is ready for download (also free) from Chapura’s website.

Uhm.. It's telling me my version of WebOs is out of date... I'm running 1.0.2
Just had to restart the app, works now. Well sort of... Did contacts anyways...
Glad to hear PocketMirror now works with the Pre! I like their software (used it with my 700p) but I rather use CompanionLink now and sync the Pre and Outlook to Google so I can have OTA updates no matter where I am.
Is there anything that syncs automatically? I use MobileMe on my iPhone so my contacts are syncd between it and 5 computers automatically. Not a big deal to hit sync on the Pre once in a while but would be nice if it was automatic.
Read the post before this one about The Missing Sync.
Seems to be working fine for me...very nice!
Why dont they have Bluetooth as an option for syncing?
This could have been a local solution for me because my company doesnt allow anything but RIM to access EAS. But I work on a desktop here at the office which isnt connected to the wifi. So there is no connecting these two...seems like a drastic oversight to me.
hang in there I am sure this all is coming....
Although it's not ideal, you could sync your Outlook to Gmail, and then your Gmail will sync with your Pre.
I agree. Bluetooth is a must.
worked great for me! I now have all of my business contacts (1000+) in my pre! just what I was waiting for!
Do you have Outlook with Business Contact Manager? Or do you just use regular Outlook?
ok i went to there webaite and it says contacts only sync name, number, mailing address, and email. What about notes, birthday and anniversary's. Has anybody tried this yet? Also, does it sync once a day when it detects wifi or you have to hit sync on your phone.
A section of the The Missing Sync page at http://markspace.com/products/pre/mac/palm-pre-sync-overview.html states that you can sync some stuff over the USB cable.
I can't do wi-fi at work, so I'm waiting for the USB cable sync, and Bluetooth would be great!
Synchronize contacts and calendars automatically and wirelessly, via WiFi - even when the Pre is sitting on a Palm Touchstone™ charger. Transfer and sync music, ringtones, photos, files, and videos fast with a USB cable.
That is cool they released something like this and it would have been nicer if they did it before I decided to use Gmail and upload my calendar into that, then upload everything to the phone. LOL.
I might have to check it out after work to see if it works well over WIFI and my Outlook profile.
I did the same thing. When i add a calender event to gamil it works fine, and syncs to Pre. But if i add it to the palm pre it wont sync to gmail cal. I tried to force a sync and even waited over night but nothing. did you figure a way around this?
I agree with houstontexas04. I cleaned up my calendar and contacts from Outlook and shot them up to 'Google' and now I have my Pre hooked to 'Google' and it can get my Cox.net email, no real for me to need to sync with Outlook.
Now, when they enable syncing birthday, anniversary's and notes, I'll most likely jump on it.
but, I will go download now incase they start charging!
Can anybody tell me in which areas
1. pocket mirror and
2. the missing sync
do better and which do worse.
Is it 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen the other?
This of course is anticipating the pc release of missing sync
Does it also sync Contacts and Tasks? My life is dependent on having email, calendar, contacts and tasks all available. Mahalo.
Will Pocket Mirror sync the formating of Outlook calendar events over to the Pre?
We have set up Outlook to sync to Google Calendar, which it does nicely, but does not bring over color coding of calendar events. We've got each child's activity color coded on Outlook and would love to see the same color coding come through on the Pre...
The accompanying picture is very mis-leading because there is nothing in this app I see that allows you to use different colors for different types of appointments on your calendar. I installed it and it synced quite nicely BUT I still had all my appointments showing as the same colored blocks which made it difficult to determine what was what at a glance. Since then I have created mutiple calendars with google in order to categorize types of appointments. I will wait until Mirror allows this customization before I embrace it fully.
I am still on dial up [I know, I know, but so far my reasons have been good]. I don't want to use Synergy, I want to sync with my computer and get my Outlook updates as well as contacts etc. like I have been doing with my Treo.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can do this? Is there a usb connection I can use? Is there a way to set up WiFi in my computer so my Pre will sync with it without being on Broadband or DSL?
Thanks in advance...
