Is The Pixi To Come In Pink After All?

It looks like the Pixi is going to be selling in pink after all.  We speculated about the  possibility back in October, and it made sense - the phone is billed as the successor Centro, Palm's mass market oriented product that currently ships in 8 different colors, and it follows that the Pixi should do the same since customization is key in that market - but those initial speculations were put to rest after a little more digging.

We now have new evidence sent to us by an anonymous tipster that suggests that the pink Pixi is indeed a thing of reality, in the form of a screen capture from an internal database.  Detailed in the screen capture are details on which Sprint devices qualify for its buy back program, and how much value those devices hold.  Generally, we're told, new SKU's are added either at or very close to the launch of a phone, and as you can see, the pink Pixi has made an appearance.  Additionally, the phone has shown up on Sprint's very own buyback website as the Palm 120 Pixi - Pink.  This could all very well mean that we'll see the handset sell in colors other than black before years end, and that's a good thing.

Pink Pixi?

It would also make sense why Palm stripped the keyboard of the orange colors... Having things all white on the keyboard would surely not conflict with other casing colors.

Even without Pink, this color strip was required for the limited edition artist backs.

Actually, no, they weren't at all. SOME people thought that because it said 'KIT' that it wasn't going to be the device itself, but everyone else who was in the know said that was normal for Sprint and they felt it really did mean a pink Pixi was coming. Looks like they were right. :)

Yep. I knew it!!

Well anything that puts more WebOS devices on the market is welcome.

As it brings more money to palm for improving WebOS
Ad gives incentives for developers to consider WebOS. ( as THe absense of big names in catalogue baffles me. i hope they are just waiting for it to come out of BETA)

@ksumanth

I'm sure that is it. Palm had\has very good relations with damn near ALL of the big-dog developers and where wildly successful in Palm's heyday. RIM's push email is really what helped knock off the ubiquitous Palm PDA\Smartphone (admittedly, Palm's early smartphones were terrible before the Treo line.)

On another note, with 'pink' Pixi's coming to market, invariably more female users will be coming onto the platform. Are there any demographics to say what types of apps women\girls like? There should be a nice market share coming to light. (damn, if only I could program! lol)

Good relations with all of the big-dog developers except for the part where Palm dropped the ball on their entire platform over the past few years. The developers damn near starved to death before they jumped over to a different platform.

I would like the Pre to come in colors. I had a burgundy 755p and it was beautiful. Also, I liked how it was grippy.

The pink will be nice, until you get a touchstone back. What is needed are colored touchstone backs as well.

You think Palm hasn't thought of this? They already manufacture "artist series" backs which are a heck of a lot more complex than single palet covers. If they're not out when the pink Pixi is released, they'll follow soon after.

i want a pink pre :-( pixi's r dumb

I think an all white Pre would rock or maybe a red/burgundy one. As for Pixi and pink, my girl is furious, she just bought one and after hearing this news is wishing she wouldve waited.

I want a red pre! Or some better touchscreen backs! Pixi gets all the color!

A glossy fuchsia pink would be fantastic for the girls!

I saw that on the sprint site last week. I was on sprints buy back site last week inquiring about how much they would give me for my Samsung instinct. And I saw the Palm Pixi pink listed on the buy back list.

I was able to use the Pixi today and I am very impressed. The phone is fast and slick. Would be getting it for the Wife soon.

They should officially release this info.

Why not orange??

Orange is the most gender-neutral color around.
Orange also has NO negative connotations associated with it.

An orange Pixi would probly breathe life back into Palm. Any color Pixi is a little "geh" and won't convince too many guys to pick one up. But an orange Pixi!?!? ... I'd consider one. How many phones come stock orange anyway??

And considering orange is Palm's color... they should get an orange phone out there quick. Remember... NO NEGATIVE CONNOTATIONS... so that's exactly what Palm needs -- ALL positive, NO negative!!

The pink listing is now gone from the buyback page. Wonder if Sprint caught on and fixed the error? But maybe that is a positive sign of a pink version after all?
