Hmm wonder if the big topic in this one would be the Palm Backup crisis :) Hoping to hear the alternatives that spawned out of this crisis :)
There has been a few comments regarding the inconsistent results of the new CPU patches, saying that the chips Palm has put in the Pre could be defective units not properly rated for the full 600mhz. My thinking leads me to believe that Palm wouldnt buy chips that couldnt make it 600mhz. They bought 600mhz chips, and they installed 600mhz chips. Do you think Palm couldve bought the runts of the silicon liter? (similar to how intel will sell the lesser chips as slower processors)
Well its called OEM computing 101. For a system you build, you go to the chip manufacturer and say I need a 500mhz cpu with a buffer to grow on. That "buffer" is no guarantee but mainly there for better power consumptions and less heat.
They could be rated for 600mhz but that doesn't mean through OEM contracts they'll actually do that on every single chip, pending their cut from the disk. 600mhz is the cap for this fabrication but then again they could do more than that with better voltage and cooling :)
Gawd i love cpu tweaking and its uncertanties ;) Seriously I do!
Is it just me, or does it take a week before the latest palmcast is available for download, dr.podder or stitcher? What am I doing wrong here? It's not really as fun to listen to a week old palmcast when a weeks worth of pre-ness has already gone by..... no?
well, I think it is late this week due to a major holiday....? However, I am heading to the grocery and would love to hear PC 85. But it is not here yet.
Maybe less polishing and quicker access would be better. Or just give us a recorded feed till it is cleaned up. News is not news sometimes when it is 3 days old...
