no MSN?!?!? i thought that was one of the supported services!
I hope it gets added soon
ICQ is also missing.
LOL!! ICQ isn't on the same level as AIM/MSN/Gtalk. No need for ICQ on the Pre.
I noticed it looked like the cursor in the Message app was still live when in card view? Will it accept input if it's the centered card without zooming in?
is yahoo messenger supported?, i hope so, or at least come out with an app, that would be sweet!!!!
Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger in that order are the two most popular IMs and for them to not be included in the Pre is really a major screw up by Palm. As much as things may have changed at Palm, it still retains it's bad habit of ignoring the basics of what consumers want and need. It is actually shocking the number of very basic things that are missing from the Pre and the funny thing is these are features that have been on almost all Treo phones. I for one cannot stand Google as a company and refuse to use their over rated products.
Yes. Their over rated... free... products. You'll never use them. Ever. Because they're over rated. And free. Never.
Ok then.
By the way, I thought Yahoo was a development partner for the Pre, was it not? The Yahoo CEO is supposed to be making an appearance on Fox Business Channel along with Rubenstien. I wonder why he would be part of the TV appearance. To explain why Yahoo is not on the Pre?
Ooooh, I'm glad I'm waiting until August. I would have been mighty upset without Yim & MSN. Let's hope that's enough time for them to have support for Yim & MSN.
ARRGHH...
RE: MSN and Y!im
Why do you people insist on REQUIRING an app when you don't need one? ...get off the AAPL mentality. Don't be lazy OR dumb.
-For MSN Msgr, enter: mim.live.com into your pre's browser.
-For Y! Msgr, enter: us.m.yahoo.com
Then create a Bookmark. You can even center the images that are used as icons for your bookmark.
-For dictionary.com, enter: m.reference.com
-For ebay, enter: m.ebay.com
-For Continental.com, enter: pda.continental.com
-For AllRecipes.com, enter: mobile.allrecipes.com
-For Vehix.com, enter:
mobile.usablenet.com/mt/www.vehix.com
There are tons of these... just do a little research.

:/// its more convenient to have it already on the phone. i'm hoping they'll release an update about windows live.
Yes there are webpages genius, but if that's your thought then screw the fandango app, every sports app, weather app, stock market app, news app, twitter app, facebook plugins, and nearly every other app. There is always a webpage that can do that stuff but a standalone app cuts out the superfluous items that are often found on those websites and simply gives you the cut and dry features you need. I would love to have an MSN messenger app on the pre, I was surprised that it wasn't included even though it was available on the centro. And yes you could run the palm OS emulator and load that app but again its an extra step....
Also, the web-page method doesn't integrate into the Pre's contact list like Facebook or Google Talk does. I think you'll agree that it's a shame to have to pull up a browser to use IM rather than have it integrate smoothly.
please need apps for yahoo developed asap!! I can't believe its not here.. I'm still in my grace period and might take mine back if no yahoo im is available, and not browser based. That's just inconvenient and rude to suggest. Please help!!!
Previous palms had window OS and the new webOS is linux based, that might explain why msn is not supported. There will probably be a client that supports it but would not be native win app.
Is there any definite release date for Yahoo messenger?
Is there any non-web based Yahoo alternative?
I like many others thought this was something that was to be included on the Pre.
One of the reasons why they might take this amount of time to release the yahoo functionality is because like AIM, it sucks the life out of it, and they are working on fixing the battery life issue first and then the applications that can work for the cell (Hence why they application store is still in Beta mode)... I just don't know why they can't make it so that the yahoo messenger is simple enough not to take that much energy.
m.yahoo.com sucks, Sprint/Yahoo doesn't have the capability to send MMS when you get an IM in yahoo, so basically you have to refresh the page every every so often to see if you get an IM. For me, that's very annoying. I know that the yahoo message come as a txt msg in other cell phone providers but not for Sprint.
I just wish there will be a response from Palm about this issue, it took forever to get a specific date for the release date of the Pre, now this issue which I'm already predicting it will not get fix until MAYBE the second generation Pre.
An Apps is not needed for Yahoo, just make it work like Aim and Google Talk!!! That will make this situation so much pleasant!
