While we appreciate the extreme geekery behind using the Konami Code to access Developer Mode on the Pre, it can be a pain to enter upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart every time you want to enable or disable Developer Mode. Decibel has sent us a heads up that starting with webOS 1.1 there has indeed been an easier way: go to the home screen and start a universal search for “webOS20090606”, as in the date on which Palm launched webOS and the Pre. Once you’ve done that and started installing homebrew fun, you can always download Chris Stucker’s DevMode Launcher app for the joy of automatic Konami.

Actually, rather than using the DevMode Launcher, it's easier to use webOSQuickInstall and make the DevMode icon available in the launcher itself.
You mean, 2 months after that was posted, that people still didn't know about this?
Hey Derek, June 6 is the day the Pre and WebOS was launched, as in 06/06/2009. They were unveiled in January.
I used webOSquick Install and made an icon also.
Slow news day?

Yeah, believe it or not, the Konami Code is easier for me to remember.
ckonami code has been too much for me, so i'm always using the launcher app
Thank you for posting this Derek. I am sorry for the negetive feedback. People forget that not everyone uses the QuickInstall method. They also forget that sometimes they just want to play with cool stuff. Maybe the person wants to root their phone without running QuickInstall?
You all need to remember what YOU do is not what EVERYONE does. Information needs to be shared as it is found. Please be a little more respectful of those who may not "know as much as you".
Yes, I reported this the day 1.1.0 was released. I use this when I need to now. Also, as stated above, June(06) 06, 2009 is the day the Pre was launched. Hence why Palm added the 2nd enabler string of "webos20090606".
thanks decibel and derek. it was certainly new to me, so I thank the both of you. I've had pre for less than 2 weeks, and I have quickinstall on the phone, but did not know that we can make dev mode into a launcher. I will look into that as well.
and what decibel said was right. what may be old to some seasoned members may be new to me, and I am grateful for any news tips being unveiled. thanks again everyone.
The very first thing I downloaded after installing the installer...
Thank you very much,I have read it now.
And welcome to my site,
