A new piece in the New York Times is out to lay the foundation of what they say “could be potentially the most exciting time in [the mobile phone] market.” This summer is indeed shaping up to be an interesting one in the smartphone market, with at the very least a new iPhone, a handful of Android phones, probably a few new BlackBerries, and of course, the Palm Pre, set to land in the hands of users between Memorial Day (next Monday) and Labor Day (September 7).
While much of the article goes over things that we already know (Palm’s losing buckets of money every quarter, Sprint’s not in a great position either, the smartphone market is ripe for expansion, etc), they did lend some credence to the current strongest release date rumor:
"But the season’s most compelling phone drama will start the first week in June, when Sprint will begin selling the Palm Pre, people briefed on the company’s plans said."
As in June 5th or 7th, the two dates we've been hearing fairly consistently lately. Hopefully we’ll be getting some sort of confirmation from Sprint and Palm on that very soon...

Where did that picture come from? I was just reading that on my iphone. Thats a fresh shot apparently. Also, it appears that there will be a NYT app for the pre. That doesnt appear to be the NYT website. That looks exactly like the NYT app on the iphone

Why does the header in the phones email say june 7th? the paper looks great on the pre. Why does it look bigger on some sites and smaller on some? Shooting angles perhaps?

That's a good question about June 7th. I suspect the Sprint Employee who took the picture set team date in the Pre to June 7th to add fuel to that rumor.
I think that is the iPhone app. It has the iPhone search button and the tab bars on the bottom. The NY Times article has no such photo.

how dare they? my friends say i check pre-news too often. anti-productive they call it. dont they know how much productivity is possible once i get this damn thing? ill make up the time i spent in 4 days tops. you know what im saying?? lol
It's 3am. I should be sleep. I have to go to work in the morning. I don't know what I will do when I get the phone. Maybe go back to my wife and kids.

A co-Worker has recieved a newletter that Sprint sends out to it’s users (i’ll put up here asap) that says June 7th. It’s offical
Didn't Sprint tell all of its Premier Customers (me included) that we would receive advance notice of the availability of the Pre? Maybe that is what he got...haven't gotten an email myself though.
She is not a Premier customer. According to her to be a premier customer you have to be a customer for 10 yesr min and never late
