Above, forum member EStigall awaits his Pre in Lufkin, TX.
First in line, goodbye Touch Pro
It. Is. Here. Launch Day. Real citizens will have their hands on with the Pre. $199 after mail-in rebate, $299 before. Some sort of Everything Data plan required.
Folks, we've been waiting for this day for so long, we're pretty sure that there will be a pot-o-gold waiting at each and every Sprint location, a tiny leprechaun there cackling with glee as he divies up his treasure amongst the line-sitters. We could possible be suffering from lack of sleep.
Update: More line photos after the break -- when you send yours in, be sure to tell us where you are at! We'll continue to update with more photos as we progress through the morning!
Update 2: Alright folks, we're 45 minutes from opening and all the photos have killed our laptop's juice. If you like, keep sending 'em in and/or post them in the forum thread below!
There are many many more people waiting inline -- check them out in our Palm Pre Forums!
Thanks to everybody who sent in photos!!

We asked you to send in photos and John didn't disappoint. He sent this in at 5 pm Eastern yesterday, having gotten it set up at 3pm.
Thanks, John!

Jean is all alone at his Best Buy as of 5am Eastern

Jason is also first in line, been there since midnight with his "Pre-eep." He writes:
I was able to sneak away to a corporate Sprint store though and have been informally camping out here since midnight. My faithful wife is sleeping in our Honda whilst I rough it in the cold with my marshmallow Peep pillow and blanky! Can't wait, though! Ross from Sprint is bringing donuts and coffee! I'm sending this from my soon to be obsolete BB Curve! John's not alone! (Though I am at the moment... LOL) Good luck, all!

Looks like Amy's Sprint Store in San Antonio is one of many that are fudging the "First Come, First Served" rule, giving her the above "Ticket Number." Check it out - the family that waits on Pre phones together stays together! They've been there since 9pm.

Luis already got the hook up with not one but 4 of them -- early! Don't hate the playa, hate the game. :)

ProwlerTM in our forums is first in line in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Forum Member Bmore is one of five waiting in line in Baltimore.

Here's a pic of me standing in front of the Best Buy in Tenleytown, a neighborhood in NW, Washington, DC. Got here @ 5 am and I'm #1 in line. I'd love to have the Pre 2 hours earlier, But I figure the extra wait is worth the $100 I'll be saving.
I had a police officer drive up a few minutes ago. I thought he was going to tell me I couldn't sit here, instead he wished me good luck on getting the Pre. 4 1/2 hours left!

Chris is first in line in Fargo, ND.

Calvin in North Austin is first in line -- the second in line pictured here has understandably given in to sleep on the very comfortable concrete.

Vince in Scottsdale, AZ camped out, tent and all, starting at 5:30 and is also first.

...and here's your's truly -- this photo taken as the sky just started turning at 6am, taken with a Palm Pre. :)

Chad is first in line in Cincinnati .

Ronnie's got a group in Columbus.

Colleen trying to hug the pre sign, 1st in line, 5am in Mchenry, IL. taken by Michael

Matt is first in line in Salem, OR. Getting there at 3am will do that for ya.

Marc reveals that some Sprint stores get fancier displays than others.

Maria writes:
Here in houston, tx, first in line, all alone here, spending my last hrs with the instinct, "single tear in eye", lol
Maria, the only sad thing to us is that you've been forced to use an Instinct for so long.

And a missive from Middleberg, Fl:
Jeff, Emily, and Jamal... We got here at 5am!

TWC_SouthPhilly tells us that there are 10 people in line at the Sprint store in Philadelphia PA on 13th & Chestnut St @ 6:30am.

Brian writes in:
I got to my local Sprint store @ 5:30... I am in Murfreesboro, TN.. just south of Nashville... I am the first one here.. WHERE ARE THE REST OF THE GEEKS???

A lot of empty stores, folks, here's one more in Snellville, Ga:
6:50 am at the sprint store and I'm the first one here......no line what so ever and I love it....It is an authorized dealer and not a staple sprint store so people are probably waiting outside of the latter and that is alright by me.....Palm Pre here I come.

We're letting folks in line with us in Ocala, FL play around with our review unit, like Angel here.

Our very own Derek Kessler reports in that the Columbus OH store is up to 30 peeps!

Bill writes in:
First -- and only -- in line in Saugus, MA at the Square One Mall. One other guy showed up and left, saying he'll be back with a buddy.

7am and 7 in line in Winter Springs, FL.

Levell: Here's me in line in at the Best Buy store here in Durham, NC.....this location is only getting 3 phones......:(

I'm ready for push on the Prê...

Troy in Amherst, NY

Luke writes "I was here at 0430, alone, so I went across the street to check the Walmart, no luck. Ten minutes later back at the Sprint store and I am 4th in line, crap."

Atta-boy, John. I'm on my way to join you!
Just don't over sleep in your tent!
I don't even LIVE in Fort Wayne, IN (I'm from Indy about 3 hours south,) but had to be outta town for launch weekend.
PS - As a result of upgrading on other side of state I'm going to have to have a new, Ft. Wayne number assigned to me and inform my world of it, etc... Maybe an obstacle to some, but I'll gladly do it for my Pre! 6+ months is just too long!
I'm sitting in my car outside a mall at 5 am. no one here as I post from my treo 700p.
just 2 hours and 50 minutes left.
man they better not have problems activating the pre on my recently switched eprp plan.
good luck to all of you. sun's coming up, birds chirping' its going to be a beautiful day.
Emeryville, CA Sprint Store. First one in line (me) got here at 5:45am. Others began lining up about 6:30am. now it's 7:30am, and there's about 15 people. For a while, it looked like there would be more Sprint employees than customers. I'm guessing there'll be 20 customers waiting when they open at 8am.
Final update from Emeryville, CA Sprint retail store.
When the store opened at 8:00am, there were 40 people in line. Only a couple got more than one phone. Since the store reportedly had 60 in stock, it would have been possible for someone to show up at 8:00am and still get one.
The store had at least 17 salespeople there at opening, manning 9 check-out counters and funneling people to post-purchase training sessions.
The systems ran a little slow, but other than that, it all worked fine.
Very satisfied with my purchase; I had planned to use the phone for a while to see how well "the first version" worked before my wife also got one, but after an hour or two of use, this is an obvious winner. She'll get one as soon as I can buy one. Well done, Palm and Sprint!
Waiting at my local best buy store. Been in Line for approx an hour, maybe hr and a half. First in line, 2nd guy just walked up. Chatted a little bit (quasi brotherhood that comes from shares experience I guess) but other than that I just gotta pee bad :/ and hve 5 more hrs to go.... Have a $50 BB gift card, $60 reward zone member coupon (not sure whther pre purchase will qualify but oh well), and $100 instant MIR. Not bad :)
At this point don't know whether to expect more people or what. Were at least six people at the best buy in south Austin around 2a....
Waiting in my car outside a Sprint Store because it's pouring rain. Got my chair setup by the door. First in line. Had a few people drive by. Been here since 2:30 after the bars :) It's 4:21 here now. Pre day is here!
Yeah had one guy drive up and ask me if I was waiting for the pre. Guy next to me in line doesn't know if he really wants the phone anymore. I'm like :o and you're waiting out here at 3a???
outside of bestbuy in Las Vegas, just me....and im trying my best not to fall a sleep. its only 2am here so I still have 8 hours before I get mine.
Ahhhh... My iPhones browser keeps closing on me as I try to read this page... Birds are chirping... Can't wait !!

here in greenwood,in (south of indy) at BB. Been here since 4am, i guess im #2 in line since some guy is sleep in his car. the wife is in the backseat sleep.
I live in Greenwood and was planning on going over there, but fate stepped in and I was called to a conference in Chicago this weekend. First one in line at the BB I went to in Rosemont. Oh yeah, I blew off the conference this morning, ha!
I'm in my bed here in Phoenix reading this stuff. You hlguys are really making me want to get up and go to a Sprint store.
Go for it!!!
&phxblue Get up and do it then... Lines aren't that long at BB. and sprint stores supposedly have better inventory =) take a pic and get it posted online
I'm still the only 1 here. sun is definitely up.
still in my car, getting a little restless. I brought a chair, may get out soon.
I've seen 1 guy walking the parking lot.
boats as bass pro shop look nice, lol. 100 minutes left, so close.
I am No.3 at my store in Buffalo. I have been in line since 6:00 am. There are five people in line...
ha! the mall doors are open. I'm standing next to the sprint kiosk with all the pre signs. no one here except for a mall walker who's 84. I told him lifes too short, gotta enjoy it. I can't believe I'm standing in an empty mall at 630 am
dont feel bad i have waited in empty malls plenty of times for nike and jordans
I just drove by the sprint store (330am) and there were no cars or people camping, good sign for me haha. I will be heading out an hour before they open, I doubt there is going to be a line in my neck of the woods (Inland Empire, Ca)
Medina Ohio 6:39am there are a total of 5 people waiting in our cars... no line yet.
AT my sprint store i just drove by there like 15 people waiting i didnt had my camara to take apic :{
I would like to join the line as well but to far to Sprint stores from here (Ukraine Kiev). I'm reading forum from my old Treo 650 and don't want to buy any other phone until Palm pre shows up! Good luck to all :)
Movistar (the main competitor of the other carrier her in Mexico that virtually has the whole market: TELCEL) is the one getting the GSM-PRE to us down here (and the rest of the Spanish speaking world).
I'm going to my Movistar store to get in line right now!
Kidding... For the moment, I'm a lost little Mexican in Atlanta, but still: I want my Mexican PRE! (you know, like the rest of the planet, phones here don't tie you up to a 2-year contract, they're just locked to the carrier and you can unlock it ;-) if you choose to do so).
¡Viva PRE!
one hour to go. no one here. mall food court is starting to open.
sitting in a comfy chair looking at pre sign at kiosk.
can't believe no sprint workers yet.
Yall are lucky to get the Pre so early in the morning, I have to wait till 6pm and rely on the store in kerr to not sell mine before I get there!
sitting outside the pembroke pines sprint store. make those psuedo-brotherhood bonds that people with similar goals make. I was first but I had to grab a bite when Einstein Begals opened. Now i'm 3rd.
No idea if there will be anyone outside my store on Lake St. in Minneapolis, but I'm awake, thanks to inconsiderate neighbors, so I might as well go by and check. -_-
a.k.a Bill in Saugus, MA. Still only three people here.
less than 15 minutes and its just me and 3 mallwalkers. the tux rental place opened.
no sprint employees and its 10 to 8. c'mon, why is no one here?
first in line in Irvine CA
wow...there are 13 people waiting. still number 3 so no worries.
I have been sittin outside my local Sprint store in my car :) since 530, im sending this frommy soon to be Instinct. It's nice to read im not the only one who woke up at the butt crack of dawn.
i hate windows mobile i want to nap to pass the next 3 hours but i am afraid i wont wake up! more diet coke!
its 8 am, when they said they were going to open and I am the only one here.
what the heck?
don't they want to sell pres?
Sprint owned stores are opening at 8. Most Sprint stores are just frachises and have their own rules and schedules. Check the website to see which are company owned, which is almost none of them. We have two in my mall and five in the surrounding community, none are company stores. The nearest one is 22 miles away and this is the only store in this half of the county composed of urban and suburban cities and towns.
bestbuy in valley stream open at 10. like 8 people on this line...im #1
Just an FYI for those of you who were not able to get one today which includes myself (because I am buying a house). Two corporate Sprint stores confirmed to me that there will be a second shipment of Pre's arriving on Wednesday June 10.
"Early bird get's the worm, second mouse gets the cheese"
First in Tacoma, WA... Got here just before 6, it's now 6:55 and I'm still alone. Makes me think my chances are pretty good! :)
i got mine !!!!
First and only in line in Visalia, Ca. Somewhat dissapionting but oh well.. better for me!
woo hooo!!! I finally have my PRE! 6 months hasn't felt so long since I was a kid waiting for Christmas!
i got mine but im disapointed by there no being any apps in the app catalog, boo hoo!!!
There are apps in the there. Just download 3 apps.
Went to the Radio Shack by my house at 8:30 am. They open at 9 but the guys let me in at 8:30. No one there but me. Problem activating the phone, but I was outta there in an hour or so. No one else showed up for the phone. I thought about buying the other one (they only had 2) but I didn't wanna deal with the hassles of trying to sell it on e-bay.
got mine! ;)
There were more people waiting outside corporate stores than authorized dealers. But the downside is that the dealers don't carry as many as those in corp stores. I just got mine in the morning. check out my review http://www.icellphonedeals.com/i-have-palm-pre-right-now/
I waited in line for two hours in Boston, but I got mine....
sweet, i got apps, now if only my contacts on my old phone would magically appear on my new pre!!!
I bought the first Pre from the Walmart in Bartlett,TN (outside of Memphis). They only had three in the store and I got the first of three, the guy behind me was about to get the second one..... I was there at 8:30 am!
woah, these lines look pretty pathetic compared to the iPhone line ups. Doesn't look like nearly the demand they were expecting.
I was 2nd in line. They had 3 in stock but the employees let their friends in the back way and get those 3 and everybody in the line lost.
time for a smackdown a-- whopping on BB management and individual employee
I was in line around 6:30am this morning. The Bestbuy Mobile in Gainesville, Fl began handing tickets out around 8:35am apparently they were short staffed but I still got my pre and as I write this I'm listening to Alicia Keys on Pandora, life is great!

Sigh...The early bird got the worm. I drove by the BB in Porter Ranch, CA around 8am and there were about 8 people waiting in line. The leaked out inventory sheet had only 3 at that store. I feel bad that I didn't yell out to those people that information, but I doubt that they would have believed me anyway. Drove down the street to the Northridge BB (2 in stock) and there were at least 2 people waiting there. Across the street is a Sprint store and it looked like at least 20 people waiting there. Gave up trying to pick one up today. It's ok though, I had signed-up for a pre-order and they contacted me yesterday and I put my order in this morning. Should be getting my Pre Monday at the earliest, but probably Tuesday.
got up @ 6am and drove to local best buy in austin, tx (gateway) and was the 5th person in line...they only had six...got mine...hooray
about 80 people in line in cali sprint store waited about 2 hours got there at 8 whe they opened i was # 46 in line
There was about ten folks at the sprint store here in new orleans but I was the 1st in line they were sold out in about 15 mins.
Thank you for the information.
