Lexi-Comp’s upcoming app for webOS is moving closer to launch, so close in fact that they look at the Fall 2009 release date as being “very soon.” Even though the program is still in development, Lexi-Comp has posted a video preview of the app on their website. The preview gives a general overview of the features that Lexi-Comp will bring to webOS, including drug look-ups and interaction comparisons. It even provides for over-the-air downloading of additional databases to expand your Pre’s medical knowledge (and yours too). Several new screenshots have also been posted on Lexi-Comp’s website, doctorly types should check them out!

cool 1st post...
Thank goodness. I am ready to pay for a good drug app. Epocrates is useless on Classic after the upgrade, which was a waste of $30.
yep. I wasted my money too. Still hping epocrates makes it over to webOS
Glad to see Pro Medi Apps coming to WebOS. Still waiting on quality apps and not mediocre what is the app store atm.
Though that being said, no paid apps for EU which is what i have, perhaps that will change with the rumoured 1.3 update in November to sync all Pre's with same fw worldwide.
I have no use for this as I'm not in the field but it looks pretty cool. They need to add some palm-row-wrapper classes to their lists though, those jumpy expanding row clicks look pretty unpolished!
So excited. How about some working calculators (rather than just images of them)? A weight-based dosing application would be *AWESOME* (at least from this perspective of this pediatrician).
oh man that's awesome. The iphone app costs $119 while the PC version is $495. Be prepared to drop a sum here.
My concern is the size of this app. The update for the drug interactions is about 6 mb. so if you want to get the complete app good luck managing space on your pre's hard drive.
hopefully a new pre comes out with expandable memory soon. This is becoming an issue for me and many pre users. the more apps out there the more space we need
The DB will be on the USB portion of the device, as you can only have 1MB in the app portion. So most of the drug info will be not using that area, unless they have to store the info as javascript files. The lack of a method of sending a live DB with the App is a big problem for many developers.
This would be great. Epocrates on classic is "ok", but that's it. And Classic 2 broke the OTA updating. Without it, Epocrates eventually refuses to let you use the software, as it knows it's out of date. It takes a few weeks to happen, but still.
I've used Lexicomp on my old Palm OS devices and it's nice. I like Epocrates better, but a native WebOS app will win every time
I've been waiting for this. One thing may be limiting its launch isn't the develpment, but rather the size limitation. The iPhone app is over 240MB which would throw our pre's into the Sorry, Not Enough Memory category. I'm waiting for palm to fix that soon. Between that and multiple Palm related problems with my phone, I'm seriously considering cutting my losses and switching to the Hero. Lexi-comp is developing for that, too with a "Fall" release date.
Very nice and very needed. Lexi, please dont make us have to scroll laterally for text! I can see the point when looking at algorhythms, but reading text, PLEASE DONT DO IT.
I spoke with a rep at Lexi last week and was told the app has been submitted to Palm. Basically, we are waiting on Palm.
I hope they don't try to charge over $20-30 bucks for this. We already have the "Drugs" program for free that connects to one of the best drug websites there is Drugs.com.
Some of their products for blackberry, iphone, etc cost like $200-300 dollars, I doubt they would sell many if their price is that high.
Drugview does not reliably run epocrates, and while lexi on classic works, the boot up time is atrocious. The side scroll bar is very imprecise as well. Have also spoke mult times with Lexi- they stated they are DONE. Just waiting on Palm App catalog.
Come on Palm - load it up please!!!
