Description
The application does the simple task of changing the sounds for notifications, calendar alerts and your ringtone. Additional functionality will be added as discovered. The complete source code is available at the #webos-internals gitorious site and we will work to update information on the wiki as well.
Be Advised. When the notification is triggered, it will play the entire sound and you can not stop it short. If you pick a 20 minute Phish & DMB Jam Session for your notification sound it will play all of it! Pick something short sweet and to the point. I've included my favorite sounds below.
The Notification Sound is played for all events such as new email, sms, charger connect, etc.The Alert sound is played for Calendar Events Links to some Awesome Sounds: Download and copy to your Pre via USB Mode to the Ringtone Folder
- message.wav - From Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail: Arrow hitting target followed by "Message for you sir"
- arrow.wav - Just the sound of an arrow hitting the target
- alert - Original Palm Pre Alert Sound (before webOS 1.1 changed it)
- notification - Original Palm Pre Notification Sound (before webOS 1.1 changed it) sounds.
- Original Palm OS Treo Ringtones
- Black Berry Alert Sounds

is there a way to have a different sound for SMS and email?

And to answer your question: Not without linux access and editing the Palm messaging application.

I dont even use the calendar but I suppose people who do. Will find this app helpful
Do I have to download the quick install before I can download anything to my pre. I'm kinda new to the palm phones

Never mind. I got it. Just had to do a little more reading in the thread and ask for the GF's help. She's pretty geeky ya know LOL.
This is good but it would be helpful if you could set up different sounds for different occurrences. Like SMS sound and a new email sound, etc. But thank you, the app is nice.
is it just not possible to put a time limit on the sound that plays.. like if the backlight goes off then sound stops or something.. i really like the idea of this app. the only thing that prevents me from getting it is the annoyance of my full music file playing

Good job... Is there a way to get rid of the charger connect sound notification... I use a charger dock in my car and everytime I hit a pothole or make a sharp turn it notifies me... I have to turn sound off and on after every ride... Hope you can help :-)
It there anyway to manually stop the sound from playing? It gets kinda annoying hearing the whole ringtone everytime a txt, email...etc.. come in.

I heard Android has something like GPS supported ringtone setting. You can enter multiple location and link a ringtone profile to them. When you are let's say at work, it automatically gets silent, when you're at home or in the garden it gets loud.

Is there a way I can customize how it vibrates? Right now, it vibrates very short. I need to get this a bit longer. Would this application do this? Tks

Sooo... I don't mean to burst everyone's bubbles, buuuuut my Pre played one sound for Notifications (Email, SMS, Charger) and one for Alerts (Calendar) even before this application. Not to knock your work or anything, but I thought this would give more capability than just what was already on my Pre. Thanks though.

Like I said, I'm not trying to knock anyone's work here. I'm glad I can change the sounds for those now, I guess I just expected more. I understand it's a work in progress and it's a BETA app. This is just me - a Pre owner who's been growing impatient with the lack of apps. I'm just glad people are working on 'em.
Hate to seem really dumb - but I have no idea how to gt this app to work. i could really use it too. Different sounds for email, SMS, calendar would be GREAT! Downloaded the app and nothing.

The default notification sound for the Pre is so quiet. I don't wear my phone and miss text messages all the time - my primary form of communication. This app solves that problem!
Yes I do hope there are additional features soon, like different sounds for different notifications (email vs text), but for now, this is a big help. Thank you!

I think I am missing something. When I download it onto my computer it doesn't work, and I don't have filecoaster, and when I tried to get that I got the same kind of error as I did while trying to download and install this. Clearly I must be doing something wrong. Can someone help me? Thank you.
hey. im new 2 this. i downloaded the notification file, & stored it in the ringer folder, but nothing.... i can't get it 2 open, i don't even c it in there. wat am i doin wrong? pls pls pls help me figure this out.
Is there anyway to make it so the notification dont go off in your ear when your on the phone. Everytime I get a call and a text comes throw my ear drums get blown away

Application has great potential - kindof messed up my phone ; keeps playing the same ( 30 second tune) . Can't get rid of it even after deleting the application /On my way to the discussion forum. lol
Every thime i click on the link to download mynotification it opens for me to click save..when i do it instantly closes any webbrowsers i have open. Am i doing some thing wrong? Thanks
I've downloaded all the files to my computer and am now trying to add the files to my PRE via the WebOS Install but am getting an error message "Error -- No Device Found" when trying to click install on the filecoaster and mynotification through the WebOS install. I have selected "USB Drive" when connecting my pre...but still see the error message "Error -- No Device Found". Can anyone help me figure this out?

Somebody above mentioned that there might be an Android app that change your ringtone settings based on your GPS location. Something like that would be sweet. In general, I'd like to have subtle "professional" settings at work and load obnoxious ones at home so I can hear them over my screaming kids.
More simply, I vibrate-only option for each ringer/alerts/notifications would be nice (eg, vibrate the ringer, but not alerts and notifications).

this app is horrible my phone basically went into lunatic mode and wouldnt shut off you try to adjust the setting volume and it plays the whole theme move the cursor and the first one continues along with the new volume. Wow horrible horrible horrible. Try to put up an app that doesnt require someone to reset their pre before you post it. Try it on your phone first get it perfect than send it out.
i am trying to get the notification sounds to work but the site seems to be down...any solutions?
I downloaded this program, was able to change some sounds, but now I have NO sound for text alerts, no matter what I change it to, there is no sound!
this happened to me too, I went into sprint and they couldn't fix it either so they gave me a new pre.
