YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I'm I 1st?

You're stupid for multiple reasons.

Can't we all just get along?

Oh, we sure can! I think we can all get behind stringing "1sters" up by their toes and smacking them around like a cheap piñata! It'll make for fine bonding time.

But honestly, can we make 1sting bannable?

Yeah im the First real comment!!

Nice apps BUT its nicer if I can get past the app catalog unavailable :(

Yea, I'm getting 'Unavailable' too. Pretty annoying.

anyone know when paid apps coming to Canada?

Those who know are not legally allowed to say, I'm sure.

i phoned bell, palm ca, palm us and nobody can give me an answer when we canadians are going to get the paid apps. What's the point of updating to 1.2.1 in canada. Are these real Palm Pre we are buying in canada?? our credit card no good either? Inspite of this,i still love my pre.
My phone is a Preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Looks like you doubled up the apps in your list :)

Too bad I am not able to download any of them!! Grrrrrr!
Palm needs to do something about this mem issue, fast! I refue to hack my Pre to the extent it would take to manually fix this!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I'm I 1st?

Whats funny is after clearing out the hombrew apps that are now paid and didnt want the shell the $$ I had room to get one more app and back to the line again.

Too bad the app catalog won't even load!?!

Palm you really got to work on your memory issues including on the server side for the catalog and the Pre side for the small app memory allowance.

I think you may have missed this one:

http://www.precentral.net/homebrewers-solution-app-catalog-unavailable-m...

oh, nevermind. Looks like the Catalog is down. *removes foot from mouth*

Is it me, or are some of those aps doubled up on the list??

Looks like he fixed it.

sweet; I was confused XP

sweet, keep rolling them out, palm!

Flashlight App, hmm... sounds like a good indication that we'll soon get those coveted iFarts apps. Can't wait.

Hey, the flashlight app on my WinMo phone is still in my top 10 most frequently used. That bright lil LED is damn handy. Of course, there's only like two or three such apps for WinMo. Let's see if Palm can break Apple's flashlight/fart app records!

*fixes some popcorn*

Yet that is NOT what the Flashlight app is in the App Catalog. It is just a white screen.

Unfortunately, using the Flash LED requires special services and such.

There's more that just came out I think...

Is there anyplace that has all the aps that I could browse online rather than using my phone?

palm.com they just don't put them up right away

http://www.palm.com/us/products/software/mobile-applications.html

I don't believe they are putting up a complete list, just select choices.

Anyone know when the paid Tweed App is coming?

according to @tweed, its up to @palm.

Damn it Palm! Fix that App memory issue NOW!!!

still mostly fluff apps. And just to rub my nose in it the damn iphone got a free Photoshop app.

Relax, we just got another tip calculator.

LOOOOOOOL! Sorry, Palm... but that one was good.

Shoot. My bad. I was busy hunting pics.

LOL at bogus caller app. There are a few situations I know of in which that would come in handy!

I would love to buy apps... if I had the room. :( A little bummer issue in the Palm business plan here....

Cool, still waiting on apps that's targeted to users like me.

Such as?

MY vote is no secret- something that will offer audible notification nagging so I will stop missing important texts and voicemails.

Would also love a backgammon and crossword puzzle app.

App Catalog down....

I am sorry but the App catalog is beggining to be a .99 Cent store, and like 99 cent stores most of it is USELESS.

Half the apps if not more that are .99 Cents are retarded, Like the iPhone App Store full of useless crap the Palm catalog is slowly getting there.

And its all because silly developers with little skill want to charge for their crappy apps

I agree. webOS is too advanced for the common web dev. We aren't going to see really nice apps till people become css, DOM, and javascript experts. This may take a while.

There are already a tremendous number of expert developers with these skills. I know because my company hires them all the time to develop web sites. The abundance of these skills is a key reason why Palm made these the core technologies of WebOS.

Companies pay well for these skills. These folks need a strong enough financial incentive to invest the time and energy it takes to learn the Palm SDK. The skills it takes to develop an iPhone app (e.g., Objective-C) are much more scarce, yet the platform attracts a ton of developers and creates a financial incentive to learn Objective-C for those that don't.

Palm needs to reach that magical tipping point when there are enough WebOS devices out there to make it more attractive to a larger group of developers. Then watch out!

totally agree, I have a iphone 3g for 9 months now, it was fun then, with a hand full of apps but now,all the apps mostly are the same from different developers. There are too many and cannot spend hours looking or searching for a stupid app.50 thousand! are you mad!! I have not visited the apps store or touch the Iphone since i bought the Pre.

Yes, because every other programming and software platform had 100% rock star applications available on them from Day 1. Oh wait.

Let us not forget the APIs are still unfinished. There are many missing functions that a developer may require.

is wooter the wooton?

No.

I agree with notmestl..... these paid apps are just terrible.

I noticed that they put FriendsFlow back in and I tried to update it, and It wouldn't let me do that.

Still getting App Catalog unavailable message. It's 3:30pm here on the east coast. Anyone else still experiencing this?

Hmm... when was Tetris Mania added? And is that by TTC?

Over a month ago, by the looks of it. September 1st.

is anybody having problems preware it loads but once its loaded i can not select anything. Please help.

Yes, I'm having the same problem since I updated to the new version of it this morning. Everything is all greyed out after it loads. Rebooting right now to see if it fixes it..

Did you update the package manager service before updating Preware?

The reboot fixed it, working fine now. The last 3 times I've tried to update package manager service, it has failed after I've said ok to the script. Not sure why..

Ugh, still no sight of Tweed, WTF is the hold up!? Crew at Pivotal Labs says they submitted it already not too long ago and said they're waiting on Palm to release it.

Seconded. Really - the app I'm waiting to buy. What's the holdup Palm?

i cant wait too get my hands on these apps;DDD

thank you "Kyusaku" for the wonderful advice preware is working again

I don't give a shit about new apps, Palm. FIX THE APP LIMIT FIRST

none of the apps appeal to me at all.

If I had enough time to write an app I would.
so far the skill set being shown is kinda pathetic.
Some apps look horrible I understand teh code behind the scences is the toughest part but come ondoes it hurt to add some flair to your app?

This app store feels like a cheap flea market so far.

TOP DEVS YOU HAVE BEEN SUMMONED!! UNELASH YOUR POWERS INTO PAAALMMM!!!

100% agree. the caliber of these compared to that offered on other platforms is night and day. I don't know what's more frustrating the dumb app limit issue or the as you put it "flea market" apps. Not at all what i expected.

anyone notice the app catalog takes nearly 5 minutes to install an app? This was before today's release. I could barely buy word whirl the other day

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!! ANYONE GOT A SOLUTION FOR THIS? OR DOES IT AFFECT ALL OF US??

... Sorry for the all-caps. That's how strongly I feel about it. :-/

I love precentral. It keeps me in the loop about my Pre...I'm new to the forums, but have been watching precentral like a hawk since I stumbled across it months ago.

This community, however, is a little bi-polar...does anyone have any real perspective on time here and the events that have occured?

I remember feeling "stuck" with my treo while every other provider was getting the cool phones. I never wanted an iPhone "killer'. I just wanted a cool phone that I could get on the web with a real browser, had wifi, and could manage my email, calendar, and contacts with. Palm finally delivered something after the last couple of years of waiting.

Now every time I read some comment it's like there's not enough apps. We get apps. Then it's all these apps are crap. The platform's been out for less than a year people. How long do you think it takes to develop what you might deem a killer application with as little, if any, bugs? I just don't see people here being grounded in reality. If you want quality, be patient and it will come. If you want apps, you can have that, but you will have to sift through the crap. Start to accept that you can't and won't have both. I know I don't want 75,000 crap applications. The Pre already came with most of the ones I needed and they need to continue to improve on their core strengths.

There is a difference between feedback and whining people. Palm needs feedback that's worthwhile. They shouldn't have to sift through all the whining to find something said that's actually valuable.

I am a happy Pre owner who has waited this long for my phone. I can wait longer for some cool apps to come through that are worth my money and even the space on my phone.

I am also a loyal Sprint owner. ATT service is crap and while VZ has a solid network, it's too pricey. T-MOBILE...well....nuff said. My chief complaint is signal strength and battery life. I've done the PRL updates. I've done the stupid remove the google calendar tricks, to no avail. My signal strength at home is ridiculously weak and I'm not buying an air rave and paying anything extra for Sprint to provide the coverage it's suppose to per its coverage map. My Treo and my wife's centro had better signal strength and far less dropped calls. So maybe this is a Pre issue. Not sure who to blame.

Sorry for the long rant, but I've been an outsider and silent for way too long. For the complainers, it will get better though I am sure you will never be satisfied since you'll always feel like you're behind your neighbors and friends who have had iPhones for the last couple of years and went through the same things you are going through now. Keep in mind the vendors with the cool apps we want are also waiting for Palm to stabilize itself and show it can provide a solid mechanism to deliver those vendors' products en mass. Why go through the trouble of allocating financial and human resources to have an application sit in an app store that's poorly executed?? Think about it folks.

WOW...

Well said!

+1

I love PreCentral and what they do, but I am tired of hearing about all the new apps. I can not download a new app unless I delete one.

That is a huge huge huge problem. I love the Palm Pre but I am ready to ditch it quick if Palm does not fix this memory problem. It is even more amazing that Palm keeps adding apps to the catalog. What is the point? Anyone that has not reached the max memory will reach it soon. I want to hear news about when Palm is getting this partition problem fixed.

The Bogus Phone Call app is actually really cool.

More new apps... 141 total

make it 143

2 days till my hero and his 10,000 apps comes to save me.

Sweet. Now why don't you go wait for it somewhere else.

I have already used the Bogus Phone call app. It was awesome, I got out of a date last night that I got set up on. Great App!!!

I would like all these paid apps if the App Catalog would take credit cards from Puerto Rico. =/
