So, you may remember a little while back when we discussed if/when/how Best Buy would get the Pre. While InsideSprintNow may have gone on the offensive against the Boy Genius Reports, one of our users (we have no ninjas, as our tipsters are not masked killers... yet) discovered something interesting when he did a search for "Palm Pre" on the Best Buy website: a banner for the Palm Pre. While there is no link to a Best Buy listing for the Pre - the banner goes nowhere - it’s a start and very much a sign that Best Buy Mobile locations indeed will have the Pre. The only questions now are when and for how much?

I get the same result. Seems as they posted the image on the fifth as the name of the picture is "sbnr_palmpre_090505.jpg". Palm Pre advertising beginning? Proof of the advertising a month before launch?
Yea, cause I was gonna say, I usually check it once a week and I didn't see it last week.
If you look at the html....in the same 'promo block' as the pre banner.... there is a number there that looks suspicious(1218086972302). It is the same length as the product numbers on best buy's site. I've been plugging it in various places, trying to gleen new info, but to no avail. :(

Another odd thing:
If you do a Google Search for [site:bestbuy.com "palm pre"] (but remove the []) it pulls up 2 results from the forums that reference the Palm Pre but they are mysteriously deleted. Weird. You can click on the "cached" link and it will show "a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Mar 23, 2009 11:52:06 GMT"
It's pretty comical to see everyone so excited for the Palm Pre. I find myself laughing because I am so obsessed with it that I check this website multiple times a day to see if there is any news on it. I really hope the phone turns out as good as the hype makes it.
I'm not even in the market for a smartphone but I check this site evey day and the forum just to see what has leaked. From what I can tell, the Pre will have a distinct plastic feel, the keyboard will be cramped, and the 3rd party software will trickle in over the next couple of years. This is not going to be a game-changer by any means.
InsideSprintNow, looks very much like an stealth Sprint company blog, masquerading as independent, and was just whining because Boy Genius got this important info before they decided to make it public.
Do you InsideSprintNow is not a Sprint plant? Its use of the logo combined with the outright claim by the blog owner to be a Sprint employee, making the log would make a subpoena to the wordpress blog host child's play.
A Bestbuy worker leaking info via a gmail account sent from a cybercafe would never, ever, be caught. BoyGenious is not bound by any NDA or employement contract. But a person hosting a blog like insidesprintnow, via a US based host, patently violating Sprint's written corporate policy, plus copyright and trademark, as insidesprintnow does, could be caught by first year law student in 24 hours.
It would be the easiest takedown imaginable.
InsideSprintnow has all the hallmarks of a corporate site, and it is duplicitous for it to be out there pretending not to be. Worse, Sprint should not be using it to attack other blogs, especially ones with very good info.
Well I just checked BestBuy's site, and I see they have a circular dedicated to mobile phones. Their current one expires May 30. It will be very interesting to see what comes out in the next circular.
