PalmCast Tonight, 8PM Eastern

Just when you thought there was nothing to talk about, a little thing called CES 2010 happens! PalmCast Live is here for your listening and viewing pleasure.  Oh yeah, you heard us right, it's going to be a plethora of pleasing personalities, tonight at 8pm Eastern.

Join Dieter, Derek and Keith for the hotness recap that was CES 2010 including 3D Gaming, webOS 1.4 Announcement, Flash 10.1, and Verizon's Plus models.  It's not all CES talk here folks: webOS 1.3.5.2 lands in Europe, SlingPlayer Flashes us and PreCentral has a swanky new App Catalog Gallery.

Tweet your questions with the #palmcast hashtag and you'll be the envy of all the cool kids. Hey, we'll give something away too, like we usually do. How about a Touchstone? Everybody likes those.

8pm Eastern tonight. We'll see you there.

Review: Palm Pre Leather Side Case

The Palm Leather Side Case is the de-facto case for many Palm Pre users, but is de-facto a little deficient? The case is made of high quality leather on the outside while soft microfiber lining is placed inside for full screen protection.  The case offers a slim design which is used to keep the original Pre concept of stream-lined in mind.  The belt clip is snug and there is a ribbon that is used to help pull the device out of the case.

How To: Install Homebrew Apps on the Palm Pre

Now that our Homebrew App Gallery is live, we've been flooded with requests about how to get them installed.  It's easier than you might think, but we still have to mention that this stuff is still in Beta and so it might not be for everybody.  If that doesn't scare you off, here's your how-to!

These instructions will apply to using a Windows (PC) machine, this will also work on a Mac since the program you need will be using is a Java program (check the webOS Quick Install Thread for more info, Mac users). You will only need the computer for the first step; from there you will be using the Pre to get your applications onto the device.

Note for European / GSM Pre owners: At the present time, your ROM version is well behind the US version, so the instructions below may not work. See the note on step 2.

Review: Seidio Spring-Clip Holster Series for the Palm Pre

The Seidio Spring Clip Holster series is designed to keep your device secure and close to your hip, yet still allows for quick and easy access to your Pre.  The holster is coated with soft-touch rubber that is similar to the back of the Touchstone cover.  The case is made of polycarbonate which has a firm build quality and it is designed to have your phone face inward in order to avoid any accidental screen damage.

The holster has a locking swivel belt clip that offers up to seven different rotating angles (so you don't have to worry if this is a vertical or horizontal case, it can be both if need be).  There are two versions available (this review will cover both since they are almost identical); the first has a headphone quick access prong spring-clip and while the second version shares the same exact polycarbonate body, it has a different spring-clip that does not allow for quick access to the headphone port on the top of the device.

Review: Palm Pre Car Charger

Palm Vehicle Charger

The Palm Car Charger for the Pre is a compact and convenient USB charger that will keep your Pre topped off while on the go. We know car chargers are fairly important accessories to have, especially when it comes to smartphones. You never know when you'll need to get a few precious moments of juice. The problem was always finding a charger that wasn't an eyesore in your vehicle.

Enter the latest addition to the Palm family of chargers. This time, you have a device that looks good, supplies enough power to charge your phone while listening to Pandora and using Sprint Navigation, plus it comes with a data sync cable for the Pre.

Oh yeah, it gets points for working with my Touchstone Charger in my car. Your mileage may vary (excuse the pun), as I'll explain after the break.
